Delightful B & B in the centre of Bampton providing three lovely bedrooms with en suite/private facilities. Our award winning breakfast is served round the large dining table at a time to suit our guests. Bampton is a conservation village in the foothills of Exmoor National Park, 40 minutes from both the South and North Devon coasts. Heron House is an adult only B & B, but is pet friendly to smaller well behaved dogs, for which there is a small charge.
I’ve just spent three nights at Heron House, just come with me linger while I transport you into this beautiful house. Upon entering your eye looks to the back door beyond to the quiet and beautiful secret garden. The old creeking wooden staircase that transport you back in time with thoughts of ladies in their long dresses, Oh if these stairs could speak what a tale could be told. Each bedroom with its own unique decor. The Lounge, Breakfast room - if you have ever purchased the magazine “Home & Antiques “ then Heron House should feature in this. The house is truly beautiful. Yes breakfast, the choice is endless-but do try the yougart . I must say a word for the proprietor Mrs Fiona Clifford , elegant, charming. I didn’t want to leave.

The Exeter Inn has undergone a stunning, yet sympathetic refurbishment in 2019 and is delighted to offer you the highest standard of accommodation within this traditional Devon Long House. Each room has it's own en-suite, large screen TVs, hair dryers and complimentary hot drinks and toiletries. Breakfast is included within the room price and provides a choice of a hearty cooked breakfast as well as Continental. We serve food from 12pm until late every day but we do recommend that you reserve your table as we get extremely busy. The property is located just a 15 minute drive from Junction 27 of the M5 and is situated on the edge of Exmoor. So as well as being able to enjoy country pursuits, it's central location in devon means that it is in easy driving distance of both the north & south Devon coastlines as well as the Cathedral City of Exeter. Absolutely perfect for exploring our beautiful county!
Was advised by owner of our rental property to dine here. Off a main road but with plenty of parking. Entered the pub by what must have been the public bar end. At first didn’t think this was a foodie place but more of a traditional male boozer. Realised the pub had another bar which was quieter but still didn’t look very much like a place for a sit down meal. Next to this, however, was a restaurant. There was only one table occupied, which didn’t bode well, but we took our place nonetheless. Ordered the steak.it arrived. Cut into steak, didn’t need a steak knife it was so beautifully done. It came with salted roasted peppers, Bloody Mary tomato and skin on fries. Everything on the plate was outstanding. The steak was perfection. Crumble for pudding and again perfection. Highest quality and taste at pub prices. Service was prompt and the owner took time to chat and explain the dishes. A superb dining experience.

My father, brother and I had booked all three rooms for a one night stay before a funeral at Bampton Church opposite. The rooms were all lovely, very spacious for a "pub", comfortable beds, super toiletries and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately my (very elderly) father was not feeling too well when we arrived in Bampton but the staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us make him comfortable, before ensuring that my brother and I were able to enjoy our dinner together downstairs. Ditto breakfast the next morning. The food was freshly prepared and excellent; an imaginative mixed menu to choose from. We are looking forward to visiting again in the near future.

Newly refurbished in 2017 . Bridge House offers 3 very comfortable double ensuite guest rooms for bed & breakfast.
We have just returned from two nights at Bridge House. Caroline our host was warm and friendly and welcomed us with a tray of tea in the garden on arrival. The breakfasts offered a lovely range of delicious options - with healthy options too. The bedroom was cosy and bedding comfortable and luxurious. The only issue was the church bells that ring through the night - we had our window open and should have closed it !

The accommodation proved to be first class, with superb food from Peter, in a wonderful location. Catherine provided us with knowledgeable, relaxed tuition.in both her excellent studio and in the field on days out. We had a great week !
