Mills Landing is a small oceanfront cottage resort on the west coast of Vancouver Island. We cater to people looking for exceptional marine and fishing adventures, and pride ourselves in providing exceptional service in Bamfield BC, Vancouver Island's most historic coastal fishing village. We have four cabins and one house that are available for rental, all with varying amounts of bedrooms and sizes of beds. Our fish cleaning station has a top of the line commercial vacuum sealer as well as a commercial freezer for your catch.
Mills Landing Cottages is situated on the beautiful west side with the boardwalk and paths (rather than cars and roads), the stunning Brady's beach, the mercentile store and its social gathering place out front. We had a wonderful, cozy stay in the clean, one-bedroom cottage with a lovely patio overlooking the inlet. Everything we needed was there. Diane and Jerry are warm, generous and kind hosts. We came to Bamfield with my mother who lived there in the 1950's with my father (a local teacher) and two babies. Diane and other kind souls supported us in rediscovering our history and helped make our trip truly memorable.

Outer Shores Lodge welcomes guests for all-inclusive experiences that feature the Outer Shores Expeditions approach to balancing escape, relaxation, education, conservation, inspiration, and connection throughout your stay with us.
We were fortunate to stay at Outer Shores Lodge for three nights in early June 2022. If, like us, you enjoy outdoor adventure, want to learn about British Columbia's marine environment, are curious about First Nations' long history on the coast, but also like to sleep in comfort and enjoy superb meals, then Outer Shores Lodge is the place for you. Scott and Russ, the owners, are both trained marine biologists. Scott was our leader during our stay. He has a seemingly unlimited knowledge of B.C.'s marine ecology and is a superb guide and teacher. A highlight for us was a Zodiac tour of Barkley Sound during we were lucky to see sea otters, which are in the process of recolonizing this part of the coast. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

One of the most memorable, enjoyable, historical, adventurous get-aways. The Frances Barkley ferry is great value for money. Currently in the News. The Seabeam Lodge was a rustic & communal facility with fantastic hosts (Co-Owner Seaton & Manager Nick). Clean with regular clients and some fish & ghosts stories. Great value for money and equally great fishing! Good value for groups and families. If you can get in before the recreational fishing season ends -Take it-! You won’t regret the experience!

If you plan on sleeping on your boat at this dock I strongly don’t recommend it. They charged me $50 a night with no water or out houses. The host was super unfriendly and made us feel unwanted. Don’t stay at this place if you want a friendly atmosphere and someone who will give you some helpful info on fishing. I’ve lived on the island all my life and fish everywhere, first time in Bamfield and it wasn’t a good experience at this dock.

Well first of all, if you decide to make the venture down the rough, dusty, 80km road to Bamfield be prepared. The Kingfisher Lodge is more of a fishing lodge that is fairly old and the Marina is pretty much forgotten about. But back to the lodge...Once you actually find the turn off to the Kingfisher Marina you go down an extremely steep narrow road with parking for maybe 4 cars. There was nobody there, there is no front desk, just a note on the kitchen window to phone for keys. Once we phoned we were told that all the keys are kept inside the kitchen in a little dish by the window, and which keys were ours. Our room was right next to the kitchen which was handy as we had to cook our own food the first night, and we were not really prepared for this. We bought expensive food at the town's only little corner store as the towns only restaurant closes at 6pm every night. Our room had a king bed indeed, as ordered, however it was very old, saggy, and uncomfortable. The bathroom was so small you had to sort of duck around the sink to sit yourself on the toilet. The shower was so tiny you banged your elbows on the walls when attempting to wash ones hair. Our room was ok for cleanliness but the kitchen next door was dirty, food crumbs on all surfaces, dirty dishes in the sink....oh and a gas stove with nothing to light it with. The kitchen was ill equipped so cooking was a challenge. There is a little veranda that runs in front of all the rooms, but there wasn't a chair to be found to sit out there. For $215/night we expected much better. We have stayed in better, cleaner, nicer places in BC for less.

Let me be very clear and fair to Harbourside by saying we did not actually do business with Harbourside Lodge for a charter (they did not allow us to), but we had a very poor experience that I think is worth sharing. My buddy and I were doing the West Coast Trail ending at Bamfield and wanted to do a fishing charter afterwards. We contacted John who was very helpful and accommodating in arranging a charter for the day after our trail ended. We also asked for lodging which he confirmed was possible. When we got off the trail, we realized that the lodge was on the other side of town from the restaurant/pub and called John. He seemed to understand that it would be difficult for us to stay there, so we changed our booking to a property on the right side of town. It seemed like no big deal, and he told us the charter would pick us up at 6AM on the port at that side. An hour later, I receive a text saying our charter is cancelled with no further communication (see screenshot below). I found this highly unprofessional, and it was also very stressful for us because we really wanted to do a charter and had only one more day in Bamfield with no time to find another one. Overall, it was rude and highly unprofessional. I would not recommend you use this service given how they treated us.
