2nd visit here in 6 years, nothing has changed. Rather crowded and noisy at a Sunday lunch time. Senior waiter, totally charming, has worked here for more than 50 years!
Food was superb! Pasta and Beef chorizo was faultless. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Not a lot of choice in the small but beautiful town of Balcarce....but this place has to be the best! Rather expensive compared with Mar del Plata, but worth every peso!

I must have eaten here a dozen times and have never failed to be satisfied. I usually have the same thing - bife de lomo, ensalada Ruse y papas fritas con una botella de Malbec, (Trumpeter, obvio) but it's nearly always good. Better I suppose is the staffing attitude which is always welcoming, helpful and really friendly. On occasion I've been given a lift back to my hotel downtown by one of the proprietors as its been late. Although it's a few blocks outside of the centre of Balcarce, it's a place you really need to visit. I just struggle a bit to work out why someone would see Balcarce as a holiday destination, but outside of that - plenty of wheat and potato business to be done there - go to Ruta 55 to experience how estancia owners entertain their clients and themselves. Real Argentina.

The name is a magnet for car-racing fans: Fangio Sport Cafe. And, granted, there are memorabilia from Fangio's car racing days, as well as a gift shop and replicas of racing cars. But other than this, it is just a plain modern café with reasonably good fare. My husband and I stopped there for a snack (it was close to the hotel we were staying at and the name called our attention) and had two milkshakes and two pieces of pastry, which were good. But nothing to write home about.

Good place for a lunch on Sundays or for eating in the middle of a travel. You have great views of the "Sierras" and you can buy "alfajores" for your friends!
