We emailed Sankarest to ask if they could cook us some traditional Sri Lankian food. When we arrived we were very warmly welcomed into a beautiful house and seated on their verandah. The food was far beyond our expectations, so many different dishes, all so wonderful especially the shredded aubergine....... We have never tasted anything like it, it was amazing. If you are looking for a traditional Sri Lankian experience with wonder food provided by lovely people then this is the place your looking for.
Thank you Sankarest

We found this lovely restaurant nearby our hotel. We have been welcomed warmly by Kuma, Berty and the rest of the crew. Of course, the service speed has not been the fastest and world greatest, but the warm hospitality they gave us, let us forget about couple of minutes waiting time. And at the end, we have been on holidays and have not been in a rush at all. The food has been excellent and the chocolate milk-shake has been amazing. We went there back almost on a daily basis, for food n drinks. We highly recommend the chicken noodles.
We also booked the tours with them. Kuma picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Bentota and we did some nice sightseeing: Turtle farm, Buddha statute and temple, Souvenir shops, etc. Kuma has been very caring and patient.
He also booked us a day tour to Kandy with Dhammika, a very good and safe driver and a great tour guide. We also booked Dhammika to drive us back to the airport. His hybrid Honda has been very clean and we felt safe all the time - not like with our first taxi driver, organised by the hotel.
We only can recommend the services of Kuma, Berty and Dhammika. They have been very honest to us, which has been the most important factor.

Very average food. Bit dispapointing based on reviews. But reletiveky inexpensive. Has an AC section . Food portions are huge so order less but food is at best average.

The chinese food dished are well prepared. The owners are always there in the Kitchen. This is the diffrence. We can ask them to prepare less spicy or spicy food according to our choice. The service is good. But the crew is not enough. If you go with a group, you will have to wait for a long time to eat. The resturant is clean and comfortable. Not airconditioned.

Inspect the kitchen before you order! Nice people, Swedes I think, a bit like hippies. Not much idea of what they are doing. The massage is a 'beach hut massage' not at all professional.

The restaurant is some how wrapped in with the river safari and the accommodation but not sure how. The good bits are the view from the ponton Seating floating in the river is nice and relaxing, there are loos and a place to wash your hands and its shady. The club Sandwich and homemade lemonade were soooo much better than every thing else served up it made our large group of 15 family members a bit grizzly. The not so good bit is that it is expensive by Sri Lankan standards, the food is okayish not great but took a long time. My main issue was lots of cats and we had to chase the young kids around given they could fall in, fall off or get bitten or scratched by the cats which they chased or where terrified by in equal measures. Remember it is also cash only and dont tell your kids about the milk shake, you could by a house for the cost of 4 of them.

I was here with my two friends last week (26th March) for lunch and what a great restaurant this is. The open restaurant is located at the top of natural rock where you get clean 180* open sea view. atmosphere was amazingly awesome.
Being a vegetarian went to this place without any hope as my friends wanted to eat a typical fish and chips dish with chilled beer. surprisingly the veggie dish was delicious like what my friends have said for other non veg dishes. The service was very personnel and friendly and of cause best value of money.
It was our best lunch in Ahungalla! If you are in Ahungalla you must visit this restaurant.
Thanks Dilash W (Lango Villas) for taking us to this place.

A calm and quiet place where you can have a wide variety of food on your choice with a beautiful scenery of Madhu river.
Was staying at Michelle boutique hotel so decided to try this place out which was 15 minute walk. Setting was lovely by River and table area atmosphere lovely.
Ordered two dishes tuna and a garlic prawn dish. The tuna was over cooked and to be honest dry and prawns quite average. Overall the food was not upto what we were expecting. It maybe we were unlucky but was advised afterwards the tuna is not local....
Would recommend for drinks and snacks but food wise was a little disappointed it was more substance food and not upto overall standards for Sri Lanka in my opinion. But worth a visit all the same. Staff friendly and lovely romantic setting

We couldn't imagine, that the owner of this place would prepare for us special meal (rice with seafood or chicken), told a lot about Ambalangoda, introduced us to many interesting and useful people, helped with everything :) We like also their snackes - tasty and spicy :) The service is very good, everyone always smiling :) There was average lunch, which local people eat, but we haven't time to try it - each our visit Asela made for us something special . Go there and you won't regret! Asela, thank you a lot for all you did for us! We appreciate very much
