Huge portions - especially the mixed vegetable dish. The flavors were good for Mexicali standards, but since MExicali is known for Chinese food and this is/was the #1 restaurant in Mexicali, I was honestly expecting even more authentic Cantonese flavors. Service was fast and efficient. Prices were very reasonable. Just can't give it a 5 out of 5 because I expected even more.

I've 30 years of marriage and it's the same time I've eating chinese food every Sunday in Mexicali, in this my city, there are 6 chinese restaurants per each Mexican restaurant and my family and I already visited all of them, per this reason we can say that Chiang's chinese bistro has the best, excellent, healthy, delicious and special chinese food in Mexicali. Some times I work in a public notary helping foreign people and when they ask about a excellent restaurant I recommend them Chiang's always like a best option.

So, even tho I rave about the Mexicali Chinese food, I am giving this restaurant 3 stars because it is average for the area. Conveniently located, typical decor, reasonable prices, attentive wait staff. The food is good and you get a LOT...I mean a LOT!! (One entree is enough for 2 people) If you like bean sprouts, order the Chop Suey, it's loaded. The pollo mongo is like kung pao chicken but not as spicy. They do have a limited bar. My knock is the noise...it is a very large room with lots of hard surfaces and is always crowded so it is quite noisy. (We were there with about 40 other patrons, 2 children...and all 3 tv sets were tuned to Bob Spongepants...go figure). We've tried quite a few Chinese restaurants in Mexicali and this is one of the ones we like. (It is quite near Hotel Araiza and the Lucerna - you can walk - read my hotel reviews too if you are spending the night)
Chinatown's wonton is made in-house, I ordered mine with beef, rice noodle and hot pepper, I am a fan of wonton and ramen soup and this is by far the best I have ever tried.
