We stopped in after church (it's behind the Rosarito Beach Christian Church) and ordered an Italian sub to take out. Later, I ate it on the beach in Playa La Mision. It was perfect with just the right amount of veggies, meats, cheese and seasonings. Next, I'm going to try their pizza and the Philly cheese steak!

Another new "hip" restaurant, Marea Alta, popped up lately south of Rosarito.It features both an inside and al fresco dining area, but the kitchen is actually a state-of-the-art adjacent food truck.Fresh seafood is the specialty here. We had the delicious made-from-scratch clam chowder, with freshly shucked clams, diced potatoes and carrots, seasoned with a hint of bay and sage, garnished with scallions and smoked bacon. Yummy! Hands down the best chowder ever!The catch of the day was red snapper. We had it buttered and grilled, with grilled sweet peppers and carrots. Possibly the freshest tasting fish I have ever tasted.Did I mention the California craft beers?Just past Las Gaviotas about 2 miles north of Puerto Nuevo on the west side of the free road.

It was an amazing experience. The service was incredible and the atmosphere was to die for. The entertainment was one of the best we've seen in baja or California. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fantastic time either with a huge group or just yourself.

For us old timers, Bettyâs is a real welcome addition! In the old days pre-2000, there was Margeâs Burgers, New York size burgers with loads of fries, setting up shop in a palapa, which is now Bobby by the Sea. With monkey and all, she endured even to the chagrin of many devoted customers who put up with the jumping monkey. Well, over time, I guess the authorities got wind of it and eventually cantankerous Marge threw in the towel! She set another shop in Rosarito, this time with no monkey! It didnât survive, with competition, she closed up years ago. Great to have Bettyâs specializing in variety of well made burgers, customized to your liking with French fries with soda or beer for drinks. Every burger is excellent, with some man sized burgers for the super hungry. Also on the menu is the BLT, excellent in its own right.When you have tried all the Baja cuisine, itâs nice to know you can go without hesitation to Bettyâs for an excellent burger.
