We have been visiting Hornberg and our friends for over 35 years. The Tannhaeuser has outside seating on the sidewalk. Hornberg is a very quiet village, and the Tannhaeuser offers the opportunity to intermingle with the locals.My favorite meal here is the Jaegerartz (hunter style) Schnitzel, which is served with small button mushrooms. be sure to try the Bratkartoffeln (roasted potatoes and onions)

Very good black forest cuisine. Venison, fresh trouts. All very healthy portions. Good and friendly service. Excellent Kirsch, which is what you need after a good dinner!

Although he restaurant is located inside the hotel there are seats outside in the summer. These provide a great view and wonderful atmosphere. The kitchen tremendously accommodating to our dietary requirements even sending the cook to discuss them. Obviously the service was tops. The food was also very good. Highly recommend.

We were lucky enough to get there around 6pm - they start serving big groups that stay at the pension/restaurant around 6:30pm. So we got our order in before they got busy. My husband had the "potato pillow" with vegetables (Maultaschen mit Kartoffeln und Brie) and I had Pfifferlinge in Rahmsosse (mushrooms) mit Knödel. The food was good, we could eat from their salad bar before the main course arrived. The salad bar is awesome! We might just come back for that. Lots of different raw salad options, red beets, kraut, merretich, grüner salad, gurken usw. Then we had the black Forrest ice cream and espresso for desert. A perfect finish to a long day hiking. Definitely recommend, prices are a bit high but the atmosphere and service were great and we took our time with the food and enjoyed - something Germans know how to do - and not rush through dinner. Several vegetarian options on the main menu which was nice.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, but the food was so good, that I didn't want to go anywhere else, so I ate there every evening. It has the kind of menu you'd expect in a top New York restaurant, right here in a little village in the Black Forest, and everything tastes amazing, no matter which dish you choose. Yet at the same time, there is a family feel and a warm welcome from the owners and service staff, so although I was on my own, I really enjoyed my meals, as though with friends.Thank you so much for your positive Review.
