We had two breakfasts and one dinner here as part of a 2-day stay and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Fresh, filling, and tasty food, with a selection of beer, wine, and interesting home-made brandies. Breakfast was cold meats, cheeses, cereal, breads, jams, and fresh fruit, with the option to have fresh-cooked eggs. A healthy, hearty start to a day of touring.

The amuse bouche was unexpected, and great, a carrot chilli cream soupshot. Followed by a seasonal asparagus soup, then spare ribs, done just right. I hadn't had spareribs like that since Dan Marino's at Hooters in Vegas. For dessert I highly recommend the rhubarb and pannacotta with fresh strawberries. Hmmmmm tasty.Oh and there was also a salad the size of a small child... no American side salads here, just a good old fresh salad with a tart vinaigrette. Wonderful. So we had dinner there twice...

This restaurant is off the main roads, on a green hill, which makes its surrounding area very relaxing and beautiful in spring time.Heiligenbrunnen mean "Holy fountain" and there is one in the restaurants open yard. The restaurant itself is inside what used to be a church, with some of the relics still inside. We came here especially after we've seen the reviews here - and I can say the food is good, but not great, for example, I had a Goulash soup that was very very salty, the Schnitzel was OK. The desserts were much better. If you're afraid of dogs or cats take heed because the house roam free in the restaurant, but my children liked that a lot.Good visit if you have the time, but not a culinary must.
