Cozy and bright Italian restaurant managed by the owner. Italian and Mediterranean kitchen, original Sicilian pizzas from the stone oven, fresh and good value for money. Also brunch on Sunday. Saisonal and regional offers and events.
We returned to this amazing restaurant in Freiburg. It definitely deserves more attention! The service, quality and value were all still way above average. Be it for the pizze, the pasta, the BBQ dishes, the deserts or the brunch buffet... there is nothing I would not recommend. The freshness and very high quality of the ingredients, sublimed by a highly competent cook, speak for themselves. It is as simple as that.

The place looks swanky and expensive, but the prices are reasonable. The food came in large portions and are delicious and filling, similar to dishes that you could get in a restaurant in Rome. We ordered two different kinds of pizza, riso, pasta, and calamari. The calamari was one of the best I've tasted -- lightly coated in flour, tender, not greasy. The pizzas were also good, with a light and flavourful dough and good quality toppings, unlike American ones that are heavy and greasy and filled with toppings to make up for the substandard crust. The rise was also very good, with a generous portion of prawns. The waiters, despite there being only two of them serving the entire restaurant, were attentive and efficient. I will definitely eat at Etna again the next time I visit Freiburg!

Gioia mia was an incredible, unexpected surprise during our recent trip to Freiburg. It is a small, family owned Italian restaurant - a quaint, little place, with the look, feel and vibe of a true Italian trattoria. Definitely NOT your expected Italian pizza-pasta restaurant. Gioia mia is run by a true Italian Mama and her two children, and many of the products are actually brought in from Mama's village in Puglia. A true taste of Italy. The menu is small, featuring 2 starters, several fresh pasta dishes and a risotto and several meat entrees. Portions are generous and the food is really delicious. On top of the great food, service is genuinely friendly, contributing to a really pleasant experience. We stumbled across Gioia mia while looking for a place for dinner on our first night in Freiburg, and having enjoyed it so much, came in a second time (which was just as good!). A highly recommended place, not to be missed!

We came for dinner last week. They have menus only in German and the waitress spoke broken English. I decided to go on the safe side so we ordered only basik Italian food. the pizza was ok but all other plates were sub-par by far.The worst was the spagety alio olio whice was served with tomato sauce???By the end of the day this id a pizzeria and not one of the best in town.Don't go if you don't speak German and don't order padta.

Previous people have told on TripAdvisor that it was strange to eat in a supermarket. This is just the strong point of this place. How many times did one not wish you could buy the same ingredients as in the restaurant. Here you can!!Good Italian food that was also appreciated by our Italian friends. Served with a smile.

Italian food and wine near the historical centre of Freiburg. Nice and cosy garden. Real italian pizza, risotto, pasta, meat and fish.
We came after having read about the place on tripadvisor. The place is located just out of the altstadt with a small cozy garden. unfortunately the food was pretty average. The bruschetta were nothing but dry bread with sliced and cut tomatoes. My wifes salad was boring. My side salad was just a mix of everyday supermarket vegetables in a random mix. The pizzas were ok but nothing more, so all in all 2½ stars. There are many better places in town.

Triggered by a Friburger friend we booked a table in this charming and lovely restaurant located in an strategic place.Although its style, food and wines carte tend to be among the best Tuscan or Riojan restaurants, unfriendly waiters arrogance makes such target unfeasible.

Staying in the nearby hotel it was convenient to visit and a reservation wasn't required. Not being completely fluent in German I had to translate the menu, but most meals amounted to either pasta and pizza so it wasn't too difficult to work out a dish to suit. The meal was fairly reasonable in price but not too large, so I also ordered a side-salad to accompany it. Both meals were enjoyable, but all the tables had an absence of condiments and none were offered by the waitress - if anything they appeared disinterested in taking further orders, so I paid up and left.I later discovered they don't take Visa; I know many places in Germany don't, but it didn't occur to me to check first. Not a bad place, but other than the convenient location I didn't find a reason to return.

Just had pizzas for lunch, so it is difficult to assess the real value of this restaurant, however these were perfectly decent, average size, with quite a good dough and tasty toppings. Nothing stellar but would easily deserve to be ranked in the "quite good" pizzerias. Service efficient. Price very reasonable.
