Typical rustic German restaurant found en route to Baden.Excellent value. Good choice of dishes. The local "blue" salmon- trout was perfectly cooked. The venue is very charming for an informal evening dinner stop and the non-fussy staff made the whole experience very pleasant. There is also a Michelin restaurant next door attached to the same guesthouse.I would definitely go here again although you are spoilt for choice for good restaurants in this area it seems!

Well this place is your typical family-runned place.Wife is serving the guests and husband is cooking in the kitchen.Don´t expect a fine dining restaurant, but more a hearty warm place with some good food.We had two dishes. The local smoked trout, which they smoked themselves. It was perfectly smoked.and the cordon bleu which is self-made with local blackforest ham inside. Both were absolutely recommendable. The reason that I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the sides (fries), were non-self made and the salad was just ok.The lady serving us was not the fastest, but very friendly and served us in a very attentive way. Also I can recommend the Blackforest honeybrandy they serve after dinner which was delicious.Overall we enjoyed our dinner and I think the place doesn´t deserve such bad critics.

Warning - we did not eat at any other restarunt in St.Peter or aroundBUT - I would definitely recommend this place. That was really TASTY. And very big portions. And "Schwarzwald torte".... mmmmmmm.....it's hard to explain its lightness and unique taste.Tip - you can park near guesthause. There is a little parking for visitors.

We had two breakfasts and one dinner here as part of a 2-day stay and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Fresh, filling, and tasty food, with a selection of beer, wine, and interesting home-made brandies. Breakfast was cold meats, cheeses, cereal, breads, jams, and fresh fruit, with the option to have fresh-cooked eggs. A healthy, hearty start to a day of touring.

I cannot remember how long I haven´t seen a place like this ! A typical - very remote - place up above every major settlement and difficult to find for non-locals. We enjoyed a true local experience with a large, wooden guest room and a small selection of home classics. Prepared with probably tons of butter I had a Schweineschnitzel as my grandma prepared it with lots of Spätzle and a side salad large and tasty. It was so delicious that I could even eat the huge portion of 2 serious pieces of meat. Really good and mouthwatering while writing about it again. Paired of course with a local beer or wine you´ll find yourself pushed back for probably 40 years :-) The service was friendly, fast and no reason for complaints. Prices very fair for that amount of good food.

In a four night stay in St Peter we went to the restaurant at Burg(er)stuble twice, so that tells most of the story. This restaurant was busy midweek in February with deep snow lying - reinforcing my story. It delivers what you should expect: German food, welcoming environment, clean and tidy facilities, good attentive service, middle price-range.On the first visit, after talking to the staff, I chose a local dish not a million miles away from a creamy pork strogonoffe. Delicious. On the next visit, full of confidence, I chose a local dish just by reading about it: bulky, heavy, dull, unimaginitive (to me). Clearly other people do want this, the fault was mine, I should have asked about it. Lesson: the staff are there to help, just ask.Would I go a third time: Yes.Burg(er)stuble is a guesthouse (it has rooms) not just a restuarant. I bracket the 'er' in its name to avoid any suggestion that it is about burgers (as in McDonalds)!
