We (my parents, myself and my son) were there for lunch. My mother has difficulty walking, but that was no difficulty for the very friendly staff. The waiter spoke excellent English to my parents and had an insider's flair in German to myself and my son. Service was prompt (drinks were there within about 2 minutes) and we didn't have to wait an eternity for our food either (probably 15 minutes). The portions were huge, freshly cooked and superb. My Rösti really WAS a Rösti, not something deep frozen, and the size of a plate, not the size of a large coin. My son ate all of his Schnitzel (done specially smaller for him) and was even offered another! (The fried potatoes were also a poem!) To cap it all, there was a free small dessert on the house for everyone. As a beer connoisseur, I have to say that it was a pleasure to have something different on the menu in the Stuttgart area, in this case, Zwiefaltener (which was excellent). The décor is also charming, full of nooks and crannies, as befitting an establishment whose cellar goes back some 730 (!) years. It was a hot day, so many were outside, but I could also picture a scene on a cold winter's day, when travellers come into the warmth to eat.To sum up - we have already said that we will we return and I would recommend *anyone* visiting Esslingen to have a meal at the Einhorn.

We enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant. Schwäbisch specialties are offered, Maultaschen worth a try.

Wir waren nach langer Zeit mal wieder im Bären und haben es nicht bereut. Es gibt immer noch typisch schwäbische Küche aber auch einiges neues. Unser Essen war wie immer sehr lecker!

A gem tucked away. Back room an untouched ol bakery with old oven and tiles. Atmosphere great. More like eating in someones back room. Food great and a delight. Super service and a must try. Prices not bad for europe.

This is not haute-cuisine, but above-average good home-cooking. We went there for a Sunday lunch with family, atmosphere was nice, and the wait was not too long, although it was quite crowded. We all went for specials that are not on the standard menu: saddle of venison and crispy goose (both a seasonal must), and the meat was great. Also the sides, knödel, spätzle, veggies and the sauce was good.Prices are fair in relation to quality and quantity.

Been coming here a couple of times now and every time the food and service is great. When you look for local cuisine this is the place to be, portions are good and the wine is even better. Service as it should be and the price quality ratio is excellent. Pay in cash only!In the summer you can sit outside in the little tiny garden they have but on a sunny evening it is just great to be here.
