The Brückenhaus has been around for decades, and has evolved from a lefty-alternative pub (an audience it still attracts) with 2 vegetarian options on the food menu to a family-friendly place with a reduced but varied and decent menu. Expect chiefly unpretentious pub grub, which, however, is low in price and decent quality. The staff are very friendly, and display a good sense of humour. Expect to book ahead at peak times (weekends and second Tuesday every month, when there's a pub quiz). Also expect to wait for your food a while when the place is packed, and sometimes staff get the orders wrong (for which they offer not only an apology, but typically a free drink, so no complaints there). Also expect that they have a small kitchen, so there may be trouble syncing the arrival of the food. That aside, this a great location in both winter and summer. Enjoy the view over the river, or relax with a cocktail; enjoy mulled wine in the winter, or play a game of pool with friends in the upstairs smoking area. Alternatively, bring the family along for a great choice of breakfast items on Sunday morning. Another bonus: the kitchen stays open late.

I stopped in here during a recent business trip to Germany, and have been back 2x since. It's a bar/restaurant, seems to be mostly locals, and serves a nice (not vast) selection of local German staples. My beef with mushroom sauce over spatzle was to die for, the fish with rice was delish, and on a bitter cold winter evening, the gluhwein hit the spot. If you're on your own, the bar or a smaller table is perfect, and larger groups have plenty of tables to choose from too. Know that it's busy, so you may have a few minutes wait, and the payment must be in cash. Prices were reasonable, so that 's not too big of a deal. Enjoy!

If you are looking for a place to sample some real Southern German Cooking: the Gasthof Allgäu is a great choice. It's located right across from the Ludwigsburg Castle. The delicious home-made "Maultaschen" come prepared in several traditional ways (in broth, or pan-seared) and should not be missed. Or try a healthy heap of Spätzle with savory melted cheese. Meat-lovers will enjoy the "Rostbraten" - which is served with glazed onions, Spätzle, and hearty sauce.

What are you looking for? Here you can find a good Stube with nice food, good beer and very kind personnel. We had a kind of beef with hand made noodle, rumpsteak and potatoes with a pint of Weiss beer. Nice place, nice food, nice people.

Since July 2012 we indulge our guests with fine regional and Mediterranean dishes, exquisite wines and a beautiful ambience. Enjoy your stay in our spacious, bright guest room and in summer on our large terrace under chestnut trees. All our dishes are prep
This place had different owners in the past and was known good food and good value. I heard that there is a new owner who changed the looks but also changed the menu and the quality. Today I invited our neighbors and could convince myself of the fabulous food. As we came in I was surprised by the nice interior. The tables create a feel of an Italian Trattoria and the booths are comfortable as in a good American restaurants. We took a booth which I which give little more privacy. The menu has a variety of mostly German and Greek food but you'll find also other offers. The specials of the day are really special. I ordered Greek wine that came with special recommendation of the owner. Great taste. Very special as anything else we tasted that night. I had delicious fresh fish which you won't find in this area quite often. Our friends had great and rich German meals and my wife had delicious salad. We ended our meal with quince dessert with vanilla ice in port wine that went well with the bitter orange liquor. The owner took time to explain us how the quince dessert is made. He visited our table whenever it was adequate, not too often but always at the right time. And all that for a proper price. Great to have a 5 star restaurant around the corner with good value. Thanks for nice evening.

Our reunion group met here for a wonderful dinner. Drinks on the grand steps leading to the terrace and the garden created the perfect atmosphere. The dinner itself was superb. We chose dishes from the seasonal asparagus menu. Service was excellent. I can recommend this restaurant with any reservations. It's a 3 minute taxi ride or a 15 minute walk from town center.

This place was recommended to me by my hotel and by a couple I stopped to ask directions. I couldn't have been more pleased. It serves local Schwabien cuisine. Everything was great. The service was good, the food was great, the local beer was wunderbar. It's one block away from the old square in the center of town. I'm sure you'll be pleased that you go there.

Hard to find. About a block going up from the entrance is an outdoor (under a roof overhang) self service used book library with books in all languages for 2 Euros each. We ate in the Kronekeller (celler) which every Monday has special - Flammkuchen -similar to a very light thincrust pizza that is not tough or chewy. For dessert had the same thin crust with cream topped with thin slices of Apple and Apple brandy poured over it at the table and served flambé. Only open 11:30-2:30 and 5:30- 8:30
