I was in Ulm on business recently and revisited my favorite restaurant there, Zur Forelle, with a colleague from work. It was a February weeknight, and not crowded, but I got reservations just in case. I always enjoy the poached trout, but this time tried the trout "nach Ulmer Art," or according to the local Ulm style. It was nicely fried, thin breading on the outside, hot and tender inside, with almond butter and parsley potatoes on the side. Excellent, with a local dry wine. And to top it off, a superb roasted plum dessert with walnut ice cream. I haven't been there for a couple years, but it is still as excellent as I recall.

This restaurant was next to a large sports complex so we weren't expecting a great meal. We were mistaken the food here was very good in a very nice atmosphere. The sauces were very very good. I'll be back if in Blaustein again.

Be warned- these schnitzels are huge! Even the small portion will be a struggle for those who are not seasoned schnitzel consumers. They are delicious though, and you can take home what you can't eat, which makes for a delicious lunch the next day. For the meal size, prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly. Reservations recommended as it did fill up quite quickly from about 6:30. Would love to come back here!

I highly recommend this restaurant. The food is very special, not too expensive (a bit more than in other places, but everything is better quality than the norm). Really good, fresh food, prepared with imagination and skill. Delicious. Every time. Also, if you have dietary requirements (eg. vegan), they are happy to accommodate and still provide wonderful food. The wine is also excellent, from one of Sardinia's best wineries (Argiolas). The waitress is a delight, really excellent at her job, as is the chef, who is originally from the south of Italy, and grew up in Germany, so his cooking is authentic but with flair. You can expect great German food, and inspired international dishes, like sushi, risotto, wok... and the decor is sweetly German, but modern and fresh. I have been a few times, and took business guests last time.

We ate at Ochsen while travelling on the A8 autobahn and were very happy. The Spätzle, a regional speciality, were absolutely wonderful. Steak, pork, chicken were all very good and so was the Espresso.Kids are made feel very welcome from the first moment you enter the restaurant were crayons and paper awaits at one of the kids-ready table. Wow! We will gladly stop there again during our next trip.

The cafe is located next to a beautiful landscape including the old mill, beautiful bond and spring and entrance to underground diving caves. The cakes are delicious and big, but the service is unfortunately extremely slow. Took over 15 minutes for the waiter to come - we had to go inside to ask for the waiter to come. The other customers were experiencing the same. Some even left while waiting since no service came. Hopefully the management will either make the waiters work more efficiently or get more staff since the location is beautiful and the cakes delicious.
I had spotted this restaurant on the way into Blaubeuren and liked the look of it even from the outside. There was a chalkboard with the menu selection outside and although limited it looked reasonable (£) and authentic. As a party of four we had not booked but turned up on spec. The only space available was on a table with a couple of other diners who generously allowed us to join them. The limited menu meant that the dishes were obviously the speciality of the chef and they did not disappoint in the slightest. The beef cheeks were 'melt-in-the-mouth' and the pork dishes were equally as tasty. A local beer was available to drink with the meal, equally delicious, and the value for money was excellent. No sweet menu, but the proprietor brought a box of biscuits around for us to enjoy. Speaking to the couple who made room for us, they make a 40 mile round trip regularly just to eat here - says it all really.

This restaurant has been run by the same couple for many years and they serve splendid regional food in a nice, traditional atmosphere. We ate far too much but enjoyed our trout and all the other courses. The location is very pretty too and we went there after visiting Blautopf.

Me and my family stayed there for three days. The hotel itself is modest but clean, we booked a room for 4 and we get an apartment (two separate rooms with as small kitchen). Great international breakfast but its main strength is its closeness to Legoland (half an hour far).
