Based on good reviews here and elsewhere on the Internet, my partner and I went for lunch to the Gasthof Rose in Oberflockenbach. We arrived at 12:40 PM and the place was packed. As we did not have a reservation, we were sent into the adjoining room (Hinterzimmer), which was no problem for us.We ordered at around 12:50 PM, my partner the cheese noodles (including a sides salad) and I the Hungarian goulash (including noodles, vegetables and a side salad). While we waited for our apple spritzers, a waiter came and asked if the three beers on his tray were for us, but they were for a different table. Our apple spritzers (Apfelsaftschorle) arrived quickly but they were very watery. Then another waitress served us soup that we had not ordered but we were told that soup is always included. The soup was pretty good, some noodles and minced meat, possibly liver. A waiter came to us with a schnitzel, again this was meant for another table. We started wondering about how the service staff seemed to be overwhelmed. Another waitress came to us with a salad but took it away as it was not meant for us either. After about 40 minutes of waiting my partner asked one of the waitresses about our main dishes and was asked whether we had already ordered. 10 minutes later we still did not have our main meal. My partner inquired once more and told the waitress that we would wait for another 5 minutes and then leave. Within 5 minutes we were indeed served our dishes by a quite upset waitress. The cheese noodles were so-so, the goulash was chewy, my egg noodles were al dente, and the vegetables came as a salty purée. We had to ask another two times until we got our side salads, that consisted of leafy greens with a bit of shredded carrot. When we paid, my partner calmly stated his opinion that the wait staff seemed overwhelmed when there are that many guests. The waitress, the same one who had taken our orders, snapped at us that meals were cooked freshly and not just heated in the microwave and that was why there was a soup and salad in between. I replied that 50 minutes was still quite a long waiting time and that we had had to ask several times until we got the side salads.

This restaurant is really an insiders tip!AmbienceThe ambience is not really great, more sort of "old", not modern or anything like that. But don't get put off with the first impression.FoodWe went for dinner and had a 4 course set menu for â¬59,50 and it was perfect. An original idea was amuse bouche which consisted of a mini-sausage with potato salad - sounds bland (especially as I usually don't eat this) but I was surprised it was extremely well balanced and tasty and I could have eaten more of those mini sausages! Our first course was an asparagus salad with prawns. The dressing perfect, asparagus and prawns cooked to perfection the presentation really beautiful and the portion pretty large for a starter in a menu.Second course was turbot served on an asparagus risotto. Again fish perfect and the risotto as it should be.Mains we had fillet of beef with spring morels, vegetables and potato pureé. Well the fillet was a dream - it was so tender it just melted in the mouth and it was also cooked to perfection as with the vegetables. The portion was also pretty huge not just 2-3 small slices as one usually receives in such a restaurant.Dessert was a dessert variation which was absolutely delicious. Not too heavy nor too sweet.WinesThey have a nice wine list with a lot of local wine at reasonable prices. Just be careful when ordering wine by the glass. The wines recommended to accompany the meal cost about â¬9,-- for 0,1l! Rather take a look at the normal wine list where you also find a selection of wines by the glass and these cost about â¬5,- for 0,2l.All in all, we love this place and visit regularly. Definitely one of the best in the area with the most conistent cooking and the prices for this high quality are really great value for money.

Dining on a weekend in December made for beautiful candlelit atmosphere but also some large family groups filling the restaurant to capacity. My little table for two still received excellent attention from the staff right until the end when they seemed to forget about us just for a while. The food was all quite good, especially the pumpkin bisque soup,a special for the holidays. I also enjoyed the fact they served wine from the local area. All in all a nice dining experience.

Went to Platzhirsch with family, great venue, vibrant and welcoming. Good selection of meals - Wednesday was schnitzel night with any schnitzel costong 8.50 Euro. All the meals were well cooked and very tasty. The Marktplatz was being prepared for festival at weekend so tables, seats and marquee were outside, which added to the atmoshere. Will definately go again when in Weinheim, perhaps on Sunday when fondue is on the specials menu.

Weinheim is quaint & nice, the restaurant is average - the frenchified menu is more germanic in presentation. Ordered the vaunted duckbreast which was OK when warm but tough when lukewarm; obviously the chef wasn't in the kitchen that evening.the town square was interesting, the restaurant so so...

Very good, gourmet restaurant. Quite a tiny menu but changes frequently. Service was fast & friendly. Food served was superb and prices are mid-range. Really love this place. Only "negative" point is that there is no free WiFi for guests - there is a WiFi signal available but as the waiter pointed out "it is only for the boss" .... everything else is just flawless. Just go there for the food :-)The Wifi ist free cause in other Restaurants in Weinheim some people downloaded illegal things and the owner had to pay for it. Anyways thank u for the evaluation.

Dined here on a weeknight with a business colleague. The service was decent, the ambiance nice (we sat out in the beer garden), and the good pretty good. The beers, of course, were awesome. The Maibock hit the spot (preferred it over the pilsner and hells). I had the schnitzel platter, which was ok. Two of the three seemed a little under seasoned. Overall, a nice dinner and worth another trip to try a different dish.

We were looking for a german restaurant and Diebsloch was the closest. Its location is top, just like any café and restaurant at Marktplatz. The deck outside was full, but we got a nice table for 3 inside, staff was friendly through and through. We were satisfied with our Schweinelendenspieà (served w champignon, bratkartoffel and sauce), Schnitzeljagd (Schnitzel in Kinderportion without schnitzel soÃe, and pommes) and Diebesgut (also has pommes, with probably fried chicken?!? Wasn't my dish not so sure). I asked for extra sauce for my pommes, no problem. Sauce came after 1min.Food and service, all in all, great. The only thing that bugs me was my pfälzer Grauburgunder (can't remember the brand name, but they have only 2 options for grauburgunder and only one of them is from Pfalz). Not my thing. Maybe someone else would adore it to death, but to me, it's bad. I had grauburgunder from other pfälzer brands and liked them all, but not this one. Conclusion: would definitely come back, and for sure will take another wine.

Bistronauten relocated from Hirschberg to Weinheim in June 2016, and they have continued to do very well. They are open only in the evenings for dinner, from 18:00 to 22:30, Tuesdays through Saturdays.Housed in the former OEG train station, Bistronautenâs modern interior is made up of an open kitchen, a bistro, a bar, the main dining area and a private dining section. The kitchen belongs to two chefs â Max Still and Johannes Raiber, who work only with seasonal ingredients sourced from small business owners throughout the region. They prepare and serve traditional German fare with modern overtones, and one can really taste the quality. There are 50 seats available in the main dining area, and these are almost always fully booked at least 4 weeks in advance. We managed to get seats without reservations by arriving at 18:00 as soon as they open, and claiming the seats which they set aside for walk-ins.There is only one menu â the daily specials, written out on a blackboard. Choose one of three main dishes â 1 meat, 1 fish, 1 vegetarian â to form a 2-,3- or 4-course menu with a soup and/or a salad and/or dessert/cheese platter. An amuse-bouche is presented upfront to whet the appetite. Table water is included in the price. The service team is friendly and attentive â we were very well taken care of by our server. Our daughter enjoyed the novelty of being able to interact with the chefs, watching while they went about cooking up a storm. All in all an enjoyable evening out, sampling authentic âneue deutsche Kücheâ prepared with heart and soul, traditional dishes elevated into modern creations.
