Accomodation found for local business, the hotel itself preserve old glory but needs to be updated. The rooms are with carpeted floor (!) and old furnitures but without the vintage fashion in. Breakfast with good choice but the restaurant...less than average.

We arrived early evening without a reservation. There were rooms available and the lady gave us room 123 DZ. A good size room with 2 joined beds and enough space for an armchair and table.A good size balcony to enjoy the forest's fresh air. Bathroom also of good size and just opposite of it ,a gas stove and and a small fridge. That is a kind of a small studio. Rooms are a little bit old fashioned and near for redecoration although management still keep them clean and in good condition. All the amenities were also in place and a bottle of mineral water free of charge for us to enjoy. We had a thermal bath in Hotel's inside pool overlooking the forest, the water was really good and enjoyable.Sauna was also very good and we did enjoy it , the room we sat after sauna was well organised with soft music for relaxation.Breakfast was complimentary and with a big variety of things to choose from. An excellent breakfast I could comment. Parking and Wi Fi also complimentary although I did not use the Wi Fi. The ladies at reception both at check in and out were friendly and professional. This Hotel is inside a small forest, the air and water fabulous,we had an excellent sleep. If you like thermal baths and happen to be in the area, stay in this Hotel.

On arrival there was nobody at the reception, only an envelop with our keys inside. Breakfast was miserable for a 3 star hotel : nearly no choice, so poor in quality. The room was of good quality, with good sound-proofing and comfortable bed.

"Well known - but new interpretations" ...is the motto of Bischoffs set. For Anja and Michael Bischoff it was very important to revive the guestroom tradition of the old brewery - but reinterpreted. The modern extension, which transfers the whole building into modernity, shelters the reception, the elevator and the stairway for our guests. The hotel has 18 new rooms instead of the old guestrooms on the second floor as well as the old cinema of Bad Urach and the former laboratory of the Quenzer brewery on the first floor. Everything was gutted and reconstructed with lots of effort and many love. Anja Bischoff attached great importance to a modern interior design in the rooms and bathrooms. With her knack for decoration, she gave each room its individual look. Every room has another floor plan. Some with two levels, some with half-timber and some with a ceiling height of four meters.
Very nice hotel in terms of accommodation and services. Friendly welcome, room clean and a very good restaurant available with excellent food. We had a special dinner and the cooking was at the very high level (star award). So, congratulation. Recommended.

I booked 3 rooms for 3 adults. Got 2 rooms instead - one room with a single bed and the other room with two single beds. We arrived at 8pm and the hotel reception was closed. A kind lady in the hotel's restaurant passed us the keys. She can't speak English. We accepted the rooms as we didn't have a choice (she can't understand English) and it was late. At check out the following morning, I tried to ask whether we would get a discount on the price since I got 2 rooms instead of 3. Again English was a problem. Tried explaining but it didn't work. Paid the same price as my booking of 3 rooms (Euro172)and promptly left. Either communication was an issue, or they were sneaky in trying to make a quick buck by giving us 1 less room. I feel it is the latter. A quick check on online showed that a double room is priced around Euro 25 more than the single room only. For getting 1 room less than my booking and, still charged the original price for 3 rooms, I give this experience 1 star.

Gästehaus Walter is a pleasant establishment located at B465 road in Bad Urach and offers 10 rooms. The hotel is family owned and managed. The owners are welcoming and friendly. Bad Urach is located at the foot of the Swabian Alps. The small town escaped serious damage during any wars and so remains in excellent historical condition. Our relatively spacious room was practically decorated and furnished, with a good double bed, desk & chair, fridge, wardrobe & safe, flat screen TV, and a small private bathroom with washbasin, toilet and shower. All was spotlessly clean. No coffee & tea facility in the room. At €90 a night including breakfast, the hotel is slightly overpriced. We came on a weekday in Omicron January and were the only guests. The buffet breakfast is OK with ample variety and is served from 08:00 to 10:00. We had a balcony with a view of the neighbourhood and the nearby hills. With an open door you hear the traffic of the B465 road. Free internet and parking in front of the door. We recommend Gästehaus Walter to anyone who seeks a good night’s sleep and who appreciates visiting a charming Swabian historical town with a nice spa: the Alb-Thermen.

So quaint, homey, clean, and comfortable. The hotel rooms are dated a bit, but so clean and comfortable. The best part is the staff and the delicious food. There is a bakery and restaurant that both serve very well done, flavorful meals. I just finished dinner and I can’t wait for breakfast.
