One of the most legendary alpine huts in Austria on sunny 1300m high above Bad Gastein, directly at the slope of the Stubnerkogel ski run and for decades a popular meeting place and known for its hospitality. In the rustic lodge with stunning flair and a large, open fire place traditional delicacies from the Austrian kitchen, fondue and other delicacies are served. At the end of a long day's skiing or for a break in between a stop-off in the heated umbrella bar next to the Bellevue Alm is recommended with a lot of fun, humor and cool drinks. Head up to the Bellevue Alm summit Station on our private chair lift. Once you have reached the top, you can toboggan back into the valley on the perfectly prepared Toboggan run (ca. 2.5 km. A special experience: a toboggan ride in the evening on the floodlit run! The Bellevue Alm guest house offers 12 guest rooms with shower / WC, TV, WIFI and some with balcony. Enjoy romantic sunrises and sunsets with stunning mountain views, high up with views of Bad Gastein. Pure nature! For all hotel guests the use of the beautiful old wood-sauna with relaxation zone in the opposite Schiefe Alm is free. Likewise, our guests may use the spa facilities in our 4-star MONDI-HOLIDAY first class Aparthotel Bellevue in the valley for free. In summer you can enjoy sunny hours on our generous sun Terrace or chill out on our own natural swimming pond. Getting there: You can reach us in the summer on a private road (by foot about 20 minutes away from the station), in winter only with our private chair lift.
I loved this place. We stayed her for a week and we had every time a great meal. The best however was the cheese fondue. The chef also came out every evening to ask us how the meal was and there was live music. This place was just fantastic I will definitely be going back.

We were recommended to go here by some locals we met further down on the Kaiser Wilhelm Promenade. It was also just down the road from our hotel, Villa Excelsior.
We ordered espresso grob, which are double espresso and my bf had a strudel covered in vanilla custard sauce.
The coffee in particular was amazing.
There are outdoor chairs and tables that get the sun in the afternoons and the cafe does lunch including pasta and soups.

Nice atmosphere, good food. Not as pricy as one could assume. We were three persons, ate good and had a bottle of wine for about 100 euros + tip

My wife and I both loved the dinner we had here last night. I had a venison gulasch and she had pike perch in a mushroom sauce. Both were outstanding! The wine and salads were very reasonable; overall I give the restaurant high marks for food, ambiance, and value. I would eat here again tomorrow!

Visited this hutte twice - the first time walking from Bad Gastein along the excellent Kaiser Wilhelmina Promenade, the second time taking the 555 bus from Bad Hofgastein to Gruner Baum. The valley is a great place for walking and there was plenty of snow although the path is cleared. The hutte has a large selection of strudels as well as soups etc. Service was very good and it is popular as several tables were reserved.
We walkd beyond Himmelwand but the next hutte at Prossau is much further than some of the signs indicate.

The Rossalm lies immediately above the valley station of the Stubnerkogel cable-car in Bad Gastein. It is easily accessible on the descent from the Stubnerkogel, or on foot, only a few minutes from the car park. Enjoy coffee or lunch on the large sun Terrace with a view over Gastein's mountain Panorama. In stormy weather relax beside the open fire with a glass of wine, or make plans for the evening over a drink at the bar. The Rossalm combines traditional wooden building with contemporary architecture. Built in 2010 to plans designed by Kuhn Malvezzi, it stands beside the meadows where the horses from the Wetzlgut resort graze in summer - hence the name Rossalm [Ross = horse, Alm = Alpine pasture].
...don’t go too late or the waiters will start vacuuming while you’re still eating! This happened to us even though we had a reservation for 8 pm. Otherwise the food was good, but perhaps looked much fancier than it tasted. Friendly service and very nice interior.

We went with our 3 young kids for a late afternoon drink. The 2 man band were great. They even got our kids involved on stage. They catered to all different nationalities and sang great songs. They had the whole place pumping!!!
Limited menu of burgers.

We had lunch with the kids, 12 and 14. The place looks very Austrian and they serve many of the typical Austrian dishes like schnitzel, goulash , sausages with sour kraut etc. But they also have really good salads! Try them if you want something not so heavy. We also had desserts and the special of the day was locally picked blueberries with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. We also tried the chocolate pancakes with ice cream. Both desserts were fantastic!
Perfect place for a long lunch!

Honestly - you must go!! We went twice, and couldn't help comparing Restaurant zur Post to a very, very posh and very expensive restaurant in Bad Gastein and Restaurant zur Post was by far our favourite place for eating. Please don't judge it by the décor - you can't fault the service.

Our Enzian Ski Club (47 strong from NY, NJ and CT) had the privilege of going to this lovely and idyllic retreat in the deep woods of Bad Gastein.
As we proceeded on our one hour ride on a two horse drawn sleigh through a wooded, snow filled valley surrounded by high crags and bluffs, it brought to mind the poetry of Robert Frost and the music of Gordon Lightfoot.
When we arrived at the Alpenhaus, we were greeted by an alpenhorn player (ala Ricola). Inside, the decor was pure alpine chalet, with post and beam and carved wood abounding.
The entertainment was terrific, the food tasty, the service great, and the ambiance like nothing you have ever experienced - lots of candlelight since their electricity came from a generator.
But the best was saved for last. The sleigh ride back on a starry night with the snow capped Mountains glistening in the moonlight created a memory that I will carry for the rest of my days.
