We stopped at this hotel for one night on our way to Austria. Room was clean modern and functional. Rest of the hotel is a bit run down. One major problem I had, was that the bar in the hotel still allows smoking, so the public areas smell of cigarette smoke although not the room. Breakfast was average. WIFI was very spotty. I probably would not stay in this hotel for more than one night.

We stumbled across this restaurant/hotel and stopped in for a traditional German dinner of Schnitzel, salad and of course beer. Everything was delicious. Would highly recommend the staff, both bar and chef, were super friendly as were the locals.

Services such as wi-fi can sometimes be a problem in hotels billed as quaint or chaming. Not here! The Breitenbach in the idyllic spa town of Bad Brückenau in the wooded and hilly Rhön region is run to a high professional standard by the owners, the Herdt family. They work hard and deliver a very fine service both in the rooms and in the restaurant, where locally caught rainbow trout is a specialty worth trying. We were received personally by Herr Herdt who made sure we were well settled in. All this despite the regulations in force due to the coronavirus. This is precisely the sort of business that deserves every opportunity to continue and thrive.
