Been there once again, and ever so happy about the friendly staff, spotless (newly renovated) accommodation and generous choice of food. The only problem is that having been here, every other spa is just boring.

My review of our 3 Nights/4 Days stay at Garni Thermenoase which I shared on Booking.com and now on Trip Advisor. This is a 4 star hotel located in Bad Blumau that's within the popular thermal region of Steiermark, Austria. On a scale of 1 to 10, and despite our disappointment, I still rated them 8... It was indeed quite an experience!!! ? "This 4* hotel is absolutely recommendable. It is immaculately clean and the rooms are big, having all the amenities of a comfortable and relaxing place of stay that's located in a lovely village. The air conditioning unit functions well. There is a covered pool at their nice garden, ample parking for guests, and WiFi access provided free of charge although it's kind of weak from the rooms. Breakfast that comes with the room rate is always served fresh. For guests staying 3 nights or more, there is free entrance at specific thermal baths beginning 4pm. ? In the morning 9am following our arrival, I was kind of disappointed and offended with the attitude of the breakfast attendant who I believe is one of the owners too. Having seen a nice corner in that spacious empty room where it is cheerful and bright, I courteously asked this man if it is free sitting for breakfast. He immediately interrupted me and said (in German) "Oh no, you can't just sit anywhere you want!" Then he pointed us to an empty annex room that was kind of dim and dull. My immediate reaction was to presume that perhaps the main area is closed, until other guests started coming and headed straight to that main breakfast area and sat where they wanted. I was shocked!!! Why was the treatment we received different from those other guests? Surely because we are Asians and most likely were presumed as tourists despite the fact that we speak good German having lived in Austria for 30 years and some of our other family members over 45 years! That was a classic case of discrimination, if not outright racism!!! And today again during breakfast, my 10yr old nephew asked politely if he can have a little more helping of smoked salmon to which the guy replied quite loud within hearing distance of other guests "Yeah right! You better eat something good, something wise!" What did he mean by such snide remark? I find that utterly offensive! Did he mean that we Asians better take advantage of the chance to eat things we never normally eat? Such arrogance indeed!!! My family, especially I am a world traveller that there are just few places on this planet that I have not seen yet. And in all my travels, never did I encounter someone with such an attitude problem. Fact is, I came to their hotel to check the possibility of booking their entire 17 rooms for 3 nights/4 days to celebrate with my friends and family my forthcoming birthday. But I think it's best to bring my business elsewhere, in a hotel where discrimination is non-existent..."

We stayed two nights very last minute (made reservations the same day we arrived). Hosts were very friendly and our room was bigger than expected. Everything was spotlessly clean! Our room had a small covered terrace overlooking the orchard. In warmer weather the pool is probably a wonderful bonus, set into the orchard and overlooking the valley. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

Stayed here for two nights Comfortable place to stay, good wifi and breakfast but no evening meals so you will need to drive somewhere (great if you know where to go !) This is not a Spa hotel unlike other in the area. Staff very friendly and happy help with any request. Very warm family feel - book of you want to some piece and quiet from the modern world and you will soon feel the calm that comes from this place.

Enjoyed this Gästehaus for 2 nights, because of a wedding in the near hitsprings Rogen bad blumau. The hostess was extremely nice, got me a reduction on my entrance ticket to the hotsprings and prepared a delicious breakfast with homemade jam.

Consiglio vivamente
