Yumekaiyu Awajishima is located right in front of Ohama Coast on the eastern coastline of Awaji Island, an area selected by the Ministry of Environment as one of the most enjoyable swimming areas in Japan. Situated in a good location, it is easily accessible from Kobe (approximately 90 minutes away) and Osaka (approximately 120 minutes away). The hotel’s large communal bath uses the myth of Japan’s creation as written in the “Records of Ancient Matters” and the “Chronicles of Japan” as its motif. With facilities like the Umine-no-Mori Annex Spa, where guests can enjoy a monthly-changing medicinal bath, the hot springs facilities are also quite fulfilling. The hotel is equipped with the Stella Terrace which gives a panoramic view of Osaka Bay, and an indoor pool that is usable all year long. The hotel provides guest rooms ranging from standard Japanese-style rooms to premium relaxation rooms on the special Nagomi floor, all of which can respond to a variety of purposes. Guests staying on the special Nagomi floor will be able to use the exclusive lounge that provides them with a free drink and internet connected PCs.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night around New Year's. Parking is free with your stay, check-in was smooth and the concierge helped take our luggage upstairs to our room. Our room was located on the 6th floor of the hotel facing the ocean. Power lines and the trees obstruct the beach view, but past that you could see a nice view of the water. The room itself was very clean and came with all kinds of amenities. There are two public baths inside the hotel - one in the main building on the 6th floor and one in a building adjacent to the main one. I recommend going to both for the experience but budgeting more time for the one on the 6th floor as the baths are much nicer there. Also one thing we noticed was that the outdoor baths were restricted to the male baths only, and my girlfriend was slightly disappointed that she couldn't enjoy an outdoor onsen. Included in our stay was dinner and breakfast. Dinner was a course meal that had two items that could be chosen from a selection (I had a fish and a steak dish). Overall the food was very good, we had no complaints. For dessert you could choose a variety of items from the restaurant's dessert buffet. The cakes and ice cream were pretty mediocre, but the gelatin-type desserts were quite good. Breakfast was a standard buffet at the same restaurant that had a variety of Western and Japanese selections. We especially liked the dried apricots that they served near the yogurt and cereals. Overall a very good stay for a relaxing New Year's. Would recommend to couples visiting Awaji and wanting a more luxury experience.

Found in picturesque Keinomatsubara, a famous beach often chosen in Japan`s Top 100 Sunset Spots, Awaji Hamarikyu is a vintage Western-Japanese resort featuring the classic architecture made famous during the Meiji and Taisho eras of early modern Japan. Mentioned even in the ancient Manyoshu poetry chronicles, the eternal beauty of this area has entranced travelers for hundreds of years. The bounty of Awajishima`s sea has long been found on the Emperor`s table, and its reputation as a gourmet`s paradise has long been celebrated. Awajishima also boasts a farming culture that brings the best of nature`s seasonal bounty to the table. Shiozaki Onsen, a natural hot spring, can be found in the southern part of the island; its warming waters leave the skin feeling silky smooth and is known for its healing properties. We wish all guests who stay at Awaji Hamarikyu today find a quiet and relaxing sanctuary with us.
Stayed at the hotel with my family. This hotel is part of the Hotel New Awaji group. The pinery in front of the hotel appeared in a Manyoshu waka poem. There were fewer foreign visitors than the hotel we stayed the night before. There were no English names provided for breakfast buffet items.

Stayed here for a night last weekend. The room was done in a traditional Japanese style and was even larger than I had expected. As the room was traditional in style, the beds were futons laid on the tatami mat floor, however the futons were quite comfortable! The view from the room was beautiful and included the nearby beach and the local castle tower. There is an onsen (hot spring) at the hotel if you want to take a relaxing soak. The breakfast buffet was good, with most of the items on offer being things one would expect to find at a typical Japanese breakfast (ex. fish, miso soup, rice, etc...), but with a few special local items thrown in as well (ex. awaji onion soup, naruto orange marmalade, etc...). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is convenient if you are travelling around Awaji Island or are planning to visit Shikoku Island. If you are travelling by car, parking is available. All in all, I can definitely recommend this hotel if you are travelling through the area, or are just looking for a place to relax!

This is the place to stay if you’re looking for a traditional Japanese experience. The rooms are very classic and you get to choose to sleep in a Tatami (traditional style bed on the floor) or have a normal bed. Of course, we went for tradition and it was surprisingly very comfortable to sleep on the floor. The Onsen is a true highlight, open all day and night for you to relax and enjoy the spa. The dinner banquet is to die for, lots of yummy seafood and local delicacies!! You cannot find this kind of authentic cuisine for the price we paid for in Japan. Beautiful ocean view as well. Highly recommend this hotel!

The room was huge and nicely decorated. On the table there was a beautiful flower in a cup. We had a sea view room with a balcony. The hotel is close to the sea. A lot of cosmetics in the bathroom. Good choice of complimentary tea and coffee. Liked everything about our room.

It was a very small ryokan with only 3 floors of accommodation (first floor as hotel lobby and restaurant while 5th floor as the public bath). We arrived in the evening and we could immediately smell the food as the lobby counter was right next to the dinner place. Staff was very courteous and helped us with the parking and luggage. We didn’t pick our dinner menu when making the reservation and we guessed our dinner was the standard set. Most dishes are made by seafood. Food was good, but not very impressive. Portions must be sufficient to make you full. Room was very tiny but luckily clean and tidy. Not much space left after opening two luggage boxes. We went up to the public bath in the rooftop and as the scale of the ryokan was small, there were not too many ppl and you could enjoy onsen quietly. The hotel locates very closely to the pier for whirlpool sightseeing boats like just 2-3 mins walk away which is a very famous tourist spot for visiting Awajishima or Naruto. Will not recommend to friends and family as given such price, we have tried much more better ryokans in other places in Japan.
