We popped into this hotel/restaurant and bar for drinks, with the intention of eating dinner. Bear in mind this is the ski season albeit the beginning. We'd no sooner walked through the door when the female bar attendant was barking at us in French, I was merely taking my coat off and hanging it up, she was fairly insistent I chose a drink there and then. We asked about eating and was told 'NO!,' then she qualified it with pointing at her watch signifying an hour hence. We sat in the near enough empty place, excepting four elderly residents (possibly hotel residents) and nurtured our drink, as no sooner than we sat to drink then all the staff sat and ate their dinner. Now I fully expect people to eat, and that is perfectly acceptable, it was slightly irksome when we were starving hungry having travelled for near on 10 hours with little sustenance that we had to watch everyone eat for an hour. We were just about on the verge of leaving and going elsewhere (albeit St Nicolas de V. is limited eatery wise) when a very nice chap took us to our table and gave us the menu, as we were so hungry it would have been churlish to leave at this point. But we agreed to get the cheapest option, rather than the rather splendid sounding more expensive options, so that we weren't handing our good cash to an establishment that does not make you feel welcome or wanted, in fact makes you feel like an intrusion. The food was lovely having said all that, we had essentially cheese on toast to start, with a small pretty salad (it was delicious), the main was pork cheeks and an amazing local savoury pudding with raisins and prunes, and a lovely cabbage side dish ... this main was fabulous. And then dessert was fromage frais in a fruit coulis. We ate and left pretty sharpish as we'd accomplished our mission to eat and there were no incentives to stay for a few more drinks.

⢠The La Trabla restaurant is situated near of the hotel LA CHEMENAZ, and invites you to enjoy Savoyard specialities such as raclette or tartiflette, or other quality meals based on traditional dishes. ⢠At La Trabla, François Gauthier and his wife invite
I stayed at the Chemenaz for three nights and had the opportunity to have two meals at La Trabla. Firstly, the dining room is lovely - a rustic setting with a modern spin and a fantastic fireplace in the center of the dining area. Must also say that the service is excellent.I had two dishes - one a savoyard speciality which was a tartiflette - they do have lovely fondue and raclette if you are part of a larger group. It was excellent. However, I did have a fish dish that, while seasoned nicely, was dry and overdone. Probably best to stick with the local dishes. The local gamay and beer were also quite nice.

We were two couples and loved our visit to this small restaurant. We had the 60 euro "surprise"menu and were happy with every dish. The first one, a medley of fresh tomato preparations, was excellent. The smoked trout with oxalis herb also wonderful. The filet of beef quite tasty.perhaps lacking a tiny bit of tenderness. For 60 euros it is good value. We'll be back for the pigeon dish on the menu that sounded good. The meal began with a nice plate of amuse-bouches and ended with some mignardises. The wine list is very fine and the patronne can advise you gladly.

In a farm dating from 1823, the restaurant Gai Soleil offers every evening a unique menu carefully developed by Damien. The cuisine is inspired from the terroir and elaborated only with fresh seasonal products.
We stayed here while on the Tour du Mont Blanc this past August. The rooms are pretty basic but very clean. The hotel is run by a lovely woman who is very welcoming. Dinner was fabulous. Les Contamines is a nice, quaint area.

The most famous creperie restaurant in Les Contamines Montjoie since more than 20 years. Open in summer and winter seasons. Carte and set menus in english, french and italian language. Located in front of the center church.
Had a lovely evening meal here. Fondu was best we have had anywhere and buckwheat crepes were fab.â¬20 for most expensive wine was very pallatable. Place was full so booking advisable. Noticed most of the other restaurants we passed were empty. Would definitely recommend this place for traditional local meal in great ambience.

Just friendly, good fun and great for big parties. Yann, the patron, is always good company. Don't expect haute cuisine, but do expect honest, good value food. The woodfired pizza oven is always in use, and turns out a mean range of dishes. Ask for his apple tarte cooked in the oven as a perfect end to the meal. Delicious!

This is my second review on trip advisor for this restaurant. We visited last February and had a lovely meal - set menu for 16 Euros each. It was voted by my party as the best restaurant we visited for our weeks skiing.Naturally we decided to eat there again this year and were not disappointed by the same set menu again. Excellent food and value for money. Have the house wine - you will not be disappointed. We will surely visit again next year!!

Even though we ski regularly in the Contamines we very seldom stay overnight. This time though we stayed and were advised by a colleague about this restaurant and we were extremely glad that we went.Considering the quality of the meal, the surroundings and the comfort it easily rates as a "must go to" restaurant. There are only set menus, but listen carefully to the waiter as he will often make a daily suggestion for your starters or desert which do not appear on the menu. Again the wine menu is quite small but it has been chosen carefully so I do not believe that you can go wrong. We lived the service, the attention to detail, relaxed environment and excellent presentation. It was a delight from begging to end.We plan to go back. Warm thanks to all the staff and the first class chef...

Highly recommended for anyone seeking well prepared, well presented Savoie fare. The staff were attentive in understanding my gluten allergy and happy to recommend alternatives or adapt menu items where necessary. We look forward to eating here again when visiting Les Contamines.
