We had the menu of the day. The quantities were generous. The quality was ok, except for the dessert which was a little disappointing. Service was friendly.

It is an absolutely great place!! It is only a few times that I felt so nice! An absolutely great place, great ambience! The food is the best, the sampagne as it should be, the wine like nectar! Worth coming at Super Besse only for being here!

We booked at the Le Louisiana because they advertised Tartiflette. What we received was a bowl of dauphinoise potatoes and a side salad with some assorted meats, not in the least like the Alpine dish we had expected. The food was delivered so fast it can't possibly have been cooked to order and was mediocre at best. The desert was advertised as Tiramisu but when brought to the table was a plain mousse with a bland berry topping. when we complained we were offered ice cream as an alternative. The chocolate ice cream brought to us had been stored too long in the freezer and bore no resemblance to actual ice cream. If you want a nice meal in Mont Dore go to "Le Tsar" just up the road.

This is a well located bbq place at the edge of town with an open wood-fired grille which gives great atmosphere. We shared the lamb rack which was delightful with haricots vert and frites. Cuisine is simple, quick, satisfying, local and well priced.

This restaurant came highly recommended but overall we were disappointed. From the outside it looked very inviting but inside it was dark & lacking atmosphere. Maybe this was because it was a Monday night & quite quiet. However even the waitress seemed half-hearted about the few clients that were there. As for the food, again ok but not memorable!

Pizzeria
The pizza here was so good that three of us ordered a pizza for desert. What can I say. we had a great meal and great fun, the waiter was helpful the chef accommodating even putting chillies from the window plants on the Pizza for us. Really worth a visit. We went two nights on the trot

This is the kind of restaurant made to make money. It's shinny, it looks cool, but prices are way too high for what you get. It's not that the food isn't fresh, but it just doesn't feel right. For exemple, I ordered two skewers (brochettes de bavette) and get two tiny skewers, some vegetables (industrial) and overcooked in a too low temperature oil fries. The meat was filled with nerves. And it was 17⬠for a single plate. The thing is they make you pay the price a great restaurant (what they look like), but when it gets to the plate, it's just dissapointing.Just go elsewhere.

The bistro looks ordinary from the outside but inside its crammed with jazz photos and memorabilia and has great character. The ladies behind the bar are very helpful and cheerful. The cantal cheese fondu was superb and the "tartibleu" was excellent. Crepes were light and tasty. The pression beer and house wine also good. They have jazz evenings in the bistro and there are adverts for music nights in other towns. Well worth a visit for lunch or informal, fun dinner with friends

If we hadn't read others' reviews the bizarre exterior would have put us off. We would have gone elsewhere and missed a treat. The interior is quirky to say the least, but the welcome is warm. We had 2 dishes we have never had before: smoked herrings with steamed potatoes in a mixed salad. Sounds weird but it works really well. The second surprise was mussels with leeks in a creamy sauce and rice. Amusing presentation and delicious, too! Very sensibly priced, definitely a find.

Les Mancelles is found just out of Mont Dore on a little country road, near the ski slopes.Reasonably priced and varied menu, including menu of the day and set menus.Anna was friendly and welcoming and spoke English.Seems a popular restaurant and children are welcome. Pre booking might be necessary.Accommodation is also available and I think is reasonably priced.
