Slightly off the main thoroughfare and still quite busy, which is often a good sign. The clear soup with pancake was fine but smaller than many; the garlic cream soup was very nice and is seriously creamy. The fitness salad was a little basic and the Tirolean potato / beef / bacon dish with an egg on top had a lot of oil / grease which meant it was heavy going. The service was good, but the food was a disappointment overall.

Tradition and Tyrolean hospitality in a personal and cozy Atmosphareim Otztal Front!
Looking at the rstaurant from the outside and their menu, we had quite some expectations. The kitchen is tipically Austrian and after enjoying the italian cuisine for several weeks, we tried both the famous schnitzel as well as a cordon bleu. The quantity is huge, but the quality is not more than average. It looked like the schnitzel was just fried in the pan instead of prepared like it should be.The staff is very friendly and the value for money is good. Only becuse of the staff, i rated the restaurant with 4 stars, the food is only average.
I order an apfelstrudel and the waiter got became very impolite because I ONLY wanted to order an apfelstrudel and nothing else - I wish i knew his name to make it public, so he learns some matters and treat people better
After the amazing four hour hike to the Hut it is a great place to rest up for the rest of the hike. It is very busy since you can reach it by cable car. However great place to relax and have a beer with some of the best scenery ever!
We have just come back from a great holiday in Kuhtai and we visited this bar on 3 occasions and had a very pleasureable time. We spent 2 apres ski times in here and also came back for the evening entertainment on the Wednesday evening. What a fantastic night of live music! Also a very good place to come for a meal as well!We would highly recommend the Dorfstadls for atmosphere, food and drinking if you want authentic Austrian.

Stayed in Kuhtai a week and ate there twice. Not so ideally located and difficult to notice but definitely worth a visit. Best quality of food in the whole resort but not overpriced. Menu includes slightly more unusual and not only local dishes which is quite refreshing. Beautifully and thoughtfully designed with a touch of quirkiness. Good and very accommodating service. Only regret that they do not do wine by bottles, only by glasses. But then, biggest selection of gin & whisky in the area. Overall a MUST and cannot be missed while you are there.

During our hike we've seen many signs of this place. As we've walked 9 kilometers already we felt a drink would be a good thing, so we changed the route a bit to pass by this place. However, one the front door the message 'betrieb geschlossen' made this extra walking for nothing.Perhaps changing your ads off-season would be a good idea.

Familie Plattner, A-6183 Kuhtai, Tel.: 05239/5203
As we arrived at this very nice looking establishment, my friends and I decided to eat something to tide us over on our journey. One friend ordered the apple strudel and was very satisfied with it. Everyone was satisfied with their hot chocolate, soups, coffee. But for those who ordered an entree of fish. It was a disaster, The fish was a frozen variety like a large fish stick. When the plates arrived all of us had taken a bite from the hot edge. One person broke open the fish from the middle and discovered that it was still cold. The rest of us opened our fish from the middle and discovered also cold in the middle. The waitress immediately took the plates back to the kitchen. A few minutes later the plates came back reheated and not to the rightful owner. Needles to say some of us ate this because we were very hungry at this point. One turned it back and refused to pay for this. The vegetables were also a frozen mix. Not a very pleasant experience. One of our party had a plate of french fries and was not a great tasting fry. Be careful ordering here.

Zum Kaiser Maximilian was located just past the start of the Schwarzmooslift T-bar on the north side of the valley. It thus faced south and was sun-bathed during our visit making outdoor dining a pleasant experience. It was also convenient making a trip down to the valley unnecessary. We had to share our table with a couple of fellow skiers in order to be seated. The servers were quite efficient in taking our orders and getting our drinks. They were brusque and it helped to be able to speak German. The kitchen took a little longer but our food arrived piping warm; I enjoyed my âGröstlâ, a traditional Tirolian dish of roasted potatoes, speck, and onions topped off with a fried egg. As always with dining outside on the mountain even with spring-like conditions our food cooled off quickly.

Come for a few drinks, live music, bell ringing and singing. We only discovered this place on our last day, it is perfect to access from the slopes or main road through Kuhtai. Great choice of food and drinks and lots of space to sit outside in the sun and a 360o view of the slopes.
