This restaurant has a good reputation, and the atmosphere and service are very nice. The kitchen is Austrian and the quality and preparation is good. However it is not great, and we would not go back. There are better places for food in the area, although the service is very friendly and atmosphere is very good. The prices are standard for the offer.

Our Falstaff-awarded à la carte restaurant with its terrace directly on the lake (with a stunning view at the lake and the surrounding mountains) specializes in culinary highlights such as game from our own hunt (deer, pheasant, wild boar, etc.). Freshly

We came here by recommendation of our apartment owner and we were truly impressed with both the roads leading to it and the panoramic view it offers. If you come from Obermillstatt, there is an entrance to the mountain where you pay 5 Euro per car for entry. The little hut was full of flowers and delicious smell of the food. All outdoors seatings offer a great view surrounded by happily grazing cows. We had their plates of Austrian typical cold-cuts and cheeses with a big brown slice of bread. The plates were garnished with pickled cucumbers and paprika, with red onions and some white roots (an equivalent of Wasabi in flavor). The dried meats tasted so good - salami, smoked ham, smoked bacon, cooked ham and one mountain cheese. These were simple but perfect for an outdoor meal up on the mountain - not too heavy for a nice warm day like today. We had one big platter (about 9 euro) and one small (about 6 euro), one 0-5 litre water and one beer. All was 21.90 euro. Value for money. Service was good. Not too fast but we didn't need to wait for too long either. You can also buy Bergkäse at their little shop in the next door mountain. Plenty of parking on a beautiful mountain slope. We fully recommend a stop here either for drinks or for a meal.We are not hikers or bikers but this is obviously a starting point for hikers to go to the Granattor one hour away.

Being in Dorbiach for the first time, we got quite disappointed that the beach is paid and the restaurant expensive, serving pizza and other not typical Austrian food. Happy to find something more typical, we came to this place and it proved to be a great choice. The air-conditioned cozy interior had a small play-place for our children, the service was very helpful and friendly and we got everything very quickly, although the restaurant just had a special event of about 30 people. The prices were reasonable and everything we had was tasteful. Great steaks, big portions! Plus complimentary lollies for kids and digestive for adults. We were all very satisfied!

We sat outside and had a perfect table with an amazing view. Die Gartenrast is a great place with beautiful terrase overlooking the valley. We ordered the chicken whitch was excellent prepared, the service and atmosphere was perfect. We highly reccomend this restaurant.

Stopped after cycling around lake Millstädtersee for a drink. Great location and comfortable seating. There is a changing cabin, so we were able to go for a swim in the lake and enjoy the lovely drinks. The fruity milkshakes are fantastic. Very friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. You can walk in, cycle, take the car, swim or kayak. The salads looked fantastic too and I am sure it's great at night. Lovely spot for everyone.

We decide to have our dinner in this restaurant. It looks quite good, crowdy. To tell the truth food was good but service fully not acceptable. We dont speak german and waiters just after they noticed that started to treat us as a second class people. We have to wait for our dishes more then 1 hour while geman speaking people had them served very fast. We had to as for everything many times and waiters manifest their contempt for us. Racist place - should be avoided for that.

Decent Italian and Austrian food. Fair prices. The salads were particularly welcome in Austria. Popular with visiting families.
