We stayed in hotel Hödner which is across the street and decided to grab a bite here. The place is typically 'Austrian' and would be really cozy if the lights would be less bright. Apart from that, service is good and the menu has both traditional Austrian dishes as 'normal' ones. Prices are reasonable and quality of food is good. Service is very quick, we got our starter within 5 minutes after ordering and the entree was served shortly after. Would come back here!

Bavarian food
Dropped in here for a meal last night while staying across the road at the Lambacher guesthouse. It was very busy (about 7:30pm on a Saturday night), but the waitress managed to find us one free table that just needed to be cleared. We weren't really hungry as we had eaten a massive lunch at Tegernsee Brausterbl, so we ordered drinks first, a dark beer (Dunkel) for me and a Pinot Grigio 0.25L for my wife. The Pinot turned out to be a rose! The menu was in German and I couldn't understand most of it, so the waitress brought us an English version and we ordered one meal to share (Shashlik with french fries). When the meal appeared, it was clear that this order was also mixed-up, in that we had a very full plate each! The food was very tasty, with the shashlik of meat and veg covered in a goulash-like sauce and the chips were the crispiest, tastiest ever with the gravy! Although full, I managed to eat most of mine and my wife finished hers off completely! The waitress was lovely, very helpful, and i think the kitchen screwed up our order, hence, only 3 stars, but the food is definitely worth 4 stars.P.S. I also am giving just 3 stars because the restaurant was way too warm, even when we stripped down to T-shirts. A poor lady on an adjacent table was fanning herself for much of the night!

Ate here twice while staying in Kössen since the first night the food was so good. Many regional dishes on the menu and there are regular specials, too many to enjoy in just two visits. We sat outside and I recommend it during the summer. Tiroler Pretzel Soup was so good I had it both nights. There are a number of local dished that are served in a pan - I recommend them all. The Käsespätzle in a pan - delicious.

Very nice place in a small village. We had lunch here whilst hiking in the area. Great veiws from the terrace, but in fact there is one main reason for me writing this review; the goulash soup!!!! The best I've ever had!! Furthermore they serve nice dishes and home made pies. Great place to have lunch! Highly recommanded!

Great find, friendly staff, excellent food, great location, fish is delivered daily although on a couple of occasions we booked late on and they were out of certain choices. On the whole a nice place to eat or just chill out with a wine by the lakeHallo John!Thank you very much for your commentary on tripadviser! We are very happy that you enjoyed your meals in our restaurant.

We celebrated my birthday up there, hiked up, had a great dinner, slept there (amazing rooms with great view) and dashed down with a sleigh. The people up there were perfectly nice, helpful and funny :) we'll be back!

I have been disappointed sometimes with eating out in Austria as the snitzel is expensive and reminds me of nuggets and chips! However this lovely restaurant gives a great set menu (no choice however) and the rest of the a la carte is very reasonable. We ate there twice during our saty in this lovely village

This cafe is blessed by its location right on the edge of the lake (see). On a summers day you can sit for hours on the decking just savouring the view with the occasional coffee, wine or beer to pay for your seat! My wife and I enjoyed lunching at the cafe, but lingered for a lot longer than intended being mesmerized by the view and atmosphere on a beautiful summers afternoon.I enjoyed a curry-wurst, which was nothing special but very reasonable at 5.90 euro whilst my wife enjoyed a sumptuous ice-cream treat. There is a spacious car-park just across the road and the cafe sits on the path around the lake allowing you to walk off the calories you have just eaten. Perfect!

A very Austrian restaurant with traditional cuisine . Quite reasonably priced with large portions . Some very "different dishes " for instance boiled veal tongue and veal heart and lung ragout . But don't worry there are steak and pork dishes too. Loved the garlic soup!
