The food was very good, but the waiters were not a good English speakers , we ask for a English menu and they say they don't have one, they didn't know to tell us nothing about the food in English, so we had to translate with Google.....After all, although they saw that, came to the table and talk with us in german. Disappointed for a touristic city.

Our Falstaff-awarded à la carte restaurant with its terrace directly on the lake (with a stunning view at the lake and the surrounding mountains) specializes in culinary highlights such as game from our own hunt (deer, pheasant, wild boar, etc.). Freshly

Once again, the wonderful Schmidt family looked after us during our visit to Austria. The food is so fresh, it brings back memories of childhood and a time when vegetables came straight from the garden. The serving staff are always friendly and the food is a delight. Not sure what else we could want

Recommended by an employee at Landal Katschberg, this restaurant did not disappoint. Even though we don't speak or read German the staff was very helpful translating the menu. It was neat trying local dishes and they were delicious you won't go away hungry. The decor is whimsical, make sure to wander around inside an check it all out. The views of the surrounding mountains complete the meal.

We ate here largely by accident, but am so glad we did. It turned out to be one of the best meals of our whole Austrian holiday. The simple "ofenloch" potato dish comprised two enormous, crispy jacket potatoes, with a delicious sour cream, yogurt, herb and bacon topping which, for the price, was simply incredible value. The "Steirische" potato was a single jacket potato, served as above, but with a huge portion of steaming hot vegetables AND two very generous pork medallions which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. This restaurant simply serves delicious food at a very very fair price. The dining area had a great ambience and the owner came out from behind the grill to talk to us about our travels, our plans and to ensure we had everything we needed. It made the whole experience very enjoyable and upheld the traditions of Austrian hospitality. Highly recommended, and if we were staying longer, we would definitely make a return visit. No question! Go. You won't regret it.

Restaurant Gasthof Prunner is situated in a historic building, half integrated in the medieval "Stadtturm" (City Gate). The appointment of the restaurant is nice and soothing, borrowing from the medieval atmosphere of the charming city of Gmünd. Service of the staff is good, even a bit formal and prices are reasonable. This we remembered from our previous visit to Gmünd; that's why we selected Gasthof Prunner for dinner on our first evening of our stay in Gmünd. Alt the things we remembered were the same, but unfortunately, the food served could only be described as average, not so tasty as at our previous visit. Attendance of Gasthof Prunner, compared with other restaurants on the Hauptplatz, seemed not so good either, when we observed the outdoor seating areas of Prunner's competitors when we took a walk after dinner. What is happening here?

We are welcoming you back on our winter season! We are open now from Tuesday to Sunday 17:00 - 22:00 and additionally 12:00-14:00 on Sundays.
That restaurant was a great surprise- we were just looking for a local place to eat and ended up having the best pizzas we ever had in Austria. Pizzas are prepared in a woodoven in front of your eyes- they came perfectly crispy and were made of fresh ingredients, which we appreciate a lot. We also had a starter, which tasted well. The menu wasn´t huge but it was fair enough for a small place. Restaurant is located ca 2 kilometers from the local town Gmund. It´s exactly on the way towards tourist attraction Kolnbreinsperre and almost beside the Donkey park, that´s how we found it. The atmosphere looks like traditional local pub with some modern features like a wine-corner. I am not a wine-specialist, but their selection looked nice as well. It´s also possible to sit outdoors in front of the restaurant, but the weather was too hot for that.Enjoyed it a lot and would return anytime.

This restaurant is part of Gasthof Kohlmayr, at the main square of Gmünd, the "Hauptplatz". The advantages of this restaurant are the continuous service from the kitchen (no stoppage between lunch time and dinner time) and the outside tables, where a splendid sit-down can be had, watching Gmünd street life. This continuous service enabled us to have an early dinner (can also be called a late lunch). We had the advantage of glorious late afternoon weather. Cold beer and an excellent Cordon Bleu schnitzel made the sit-down perfect. Service of the staff was polite and efficient. To be recommended.

A quirky delight, the old castle has a suave style that is fascinating, Ula's Spätzle are always good, I enjoy taking guests there to show it off!
