I have traveled in many countries and different atmospheres. I really enjoyed this upbeat and comfortable spot for the views of the beautiful lake and especially the warm welcome and chats with the wait staff and owners. They asked about our travels and offered great suggestions of spots with should see before we leave the area. The owners were around and checking on customers. Every dish we tried was delicious! Even one of the specials of fried liver and onions. The pizza was unique combinations and desserts were great too! It's a great pitstop on the way as you are touring through the area or if you decide to stay at the camp ground.

Enjoyed the breakfasts - trendy, passionate about the region and high quality eco-products; local desserts - find anything from European cuisine; dinners mostly local food - with strong influence of Italy, some home-made options from Chinese cuisine.

I have been here twice in the past 3 years. The food both times has been very good. I had the pastrami fillet which was excellent. The salad was a little on the small side, and somewhat plain. I didn't have the soup, but was told it was good. The one negative was I found the table to be a little cramped, and the seating itself wasn't great (comfortable). The restaurant does have a little bowling alley (2 lanes - traditional 9 pin) for some after dinner fun if you haven't had too much to drink.

Iâm really disappointed and sorry for this bad feedback because Iâve experienced a huge gap between the first evening and the following one!Evening 1: I was with my husband and the restaurant welcomed us very well. We had a super tender goulash with Knodel and a delicious chocolate dessert called Wohr in Hemd with vanilla icecream on its top. The service was very kind and the mood very relaxed.Happy for this experience we invited also our friends to join the evening after...Evening 2: 3 couples of friends, treated like stupid tourists as I was to only one to speak German. A friend of mine is vegetarian and I asked twice to have veggie Spatzle. When they arrived I asked again: âAre they veggie or only without ham?â. The waiter answered rude: âIf you ordered them without ham they are without hamâ. My question was different...I had the same dish of the evening before and the goulash was hard and burned instead of the tender filet I had enjoyed! Also the chocolate dessert was different and placed differently in the plate! Both waiter and waitress were quite rude all The evening and every time they left a plate full of cutlery for self service... Finally I asked the bill and the waitress shouted â116 euroâ without bringing us the bill...No words. This was the proof of the power of people: same nice location, same menu, 2 completed different experiences. Not recommended! Especially if you donât speak German, as they donât even have a Menu in English!

We cook for you, tasty, home ,,Carinthians kitchen ", combined with select specialities from our southern neighbouring country Italy as well as steaks variations of the home blond cattle
Don't let the approach through the car park put you off. You think it's going to be standard 'truckers' fare' but, my God, the chef cooks fresh and the schnitzel is superb. We walked in, decided to sit outside, had to real expectations but then you view the menu. No wipe-down plastic here: an expensively wrought and designed menu with a (thankfully short) range of varied dishes. So, no boil-in-a-bag and microwave here. We had the best meal in our 2-week trip through Germany, Austria and Italy. Get the house white, order any dish, get a side salad and enjoy. If you're staying in the area, don't eat in your hotel. If I could take this home with me, I would and eat there weekly - it's that good and a rather wonderful surprise on our first night after a long journey.

We went there for some hot drinks and cakes. Tried gerlitzen torten, germknedl and apple cake. Loved everything. Place is very charming and cozzy. Staff is very nice and hepful. Prices are like in all other places on gerlitzen. View is great, and it is just perfect place to take a rest there.

Gerlitzen Gipfelhaus offers a few room to stay in overnight plus it has a large restaurant. It's situated right at the top of the mountain at over 1900 metres. the view from here is simply breathtaking. You can see over Karnten, into Steiermark, through over to Slovenia, then to Italy and upwards to Salzburg. You can even see the summit of Grossglocker. It's an incredible panorama that is 360 degrees! Inside, the rooms were basic with shared bathrooms, but I slept well. It was good value too, with half-pension options. The evening meal was good, and breakfast was even better with a nice large selection, plus freshly made eggs of your choice. Being a large self-service style ski gasthof, it did feel a little impersonal, and the bar shut down completely at 9pm. The Gipfelhaus only accepts cash, with no credit cards or bank cards allowed.

We have been now several times to this restaurant when we were in the area of lake Ossiach. It was always great, they serve delicious local food in excellent quality for a good value. The people are very friendly, too. Last but not least the view over lake Ossiach is just amazing. We will definitively eat there again.
