Find out what Austrian restaurants to try in Bregenz. Capital of the state of Vorarlberg, Bregenz nestles at the foot of Pfander Mountain, on the shores of lovely Lake Constance. Famed for its summer opera festival, Bregenzer Festspiele, the small town of 27,000 welcomes some 200,000 visitors for dramatic evening productions of Puccini, Britten and other classics, held on a stage on the lake itself. Strolling, boating and swimming are also popular activities. Bicycling round Bregenz's cobblestone streets is an easy and pleasant way to explore.

We coincidentely came this restaurant after having disappointment about our reservation at another place where we should celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were two couples, when we were talking how other place ruined our celebration plans, staff kindly served us proseccos and wishes us happy anniversaries, most probably they heard us when we were talking. Upon this kindness we got so impressed. Our waiter Patrickâs suggestions for good local wines were pretty good, we had really good wines. The crowd of Saturday night never caused any service problem. We had traditional food with some seasonal specialities. We enjoyed our time till late hours.Special thanks once again to Patrick who made our evening so special. If you would like to taste good traditional food, good local wine at a cozy atmosphere with friendly staff, I strongly recommend you this place.Hello from Bregenz! We are happy that you had a good time at the Weinstube Kinz.Best wishes, Verena

There's many things to recommend Burgrestaurant Gebhardsberg, among them the views of Bregenz from the dining terrace, the helpful staff and the historical setting of the restaurant in a former stronghold. Sadly the food isn't one of the reasons to come to this restaurant. Though ti does seem to be popular with bridal parties, there were two on the premises while we were having dinner on the terrace. My companion and I both had the special 'Turandot' menu, after all that's why we were in Breganz so we thought we'd enjoy the special menu the hotel composed for the occasion. The theme started with a trio of items: a panna cotta of cheese, thin slices of tomato and pesto sauce in the colors of the Italian flag but after this it sadly ran out of theme and flavor as course after course the menu reverted to local favorites. The companion had the accompanying wine flight which consisted, except for a single Spanish wine, of wines from the local Austrian and German vicinity. The wines did go perfectly with the food once all the faux Italian elements dissipated after the first course. By the last, which was an icy passion fruit sorbet on top of fresh berries, there wasn't a hint of Puccini or Turandot to be tasted anywhere.Kudos to the management though for having enough staff on hand to deal with two wedding parties as well as the individual guests dining on the terrace. Other establishments might have and in my experience have tried to use the staff to service all three events leaving everyone unhappy. Also, this is not a place to take your wheel chair bound Gran. It's a former castle and hence very hard to get in to with several flights of steps. The car park in on a lower level, is unpaved but lit after dark. There's a rather steep walk up a hundred foot length of cobbled path. Ladies, your heels will suffer if you choose to wear them if you visit. Can't argue with the views over the town and the lake which are especially beautiful as the sun sets. Unfortunately the views are superior to the food.

Friendly service, a good selection of meals but not many vegetarian choices. It's super to enjoy the view of the lake even when it's raining or slightli chilla - the patio has a roof and is heated.

I invited my grandmother for her birthday to enjoy an extended lunch in a nice atmosphere. We sat outside, the atmosphere was nice, the view and the newly built house (i like the clean architectue) were great.FOOD was disappointing. I chose the carpaccio and the daily special which was the fish platter recommended by the waiter. The carpaccio was average with too much rucola for my taste. The fish was disappointing: while the portion was almost too big, the quality and taste were not convincing at all. A smaller fresh fish from the grill would have been nicer than the two cheap supermarket fish filets that have been prepared in a pan with too much butter.Another point that tells a lot about the chef is that you find Schnitzel "Wiener Art" made of pork but not the real "Wiener Schnitzel" from a calf. Why?!SERVICE was not exactly great. The young waiter was just too proud of himself and the place. He asked "war sicher super, oder?" which is "sure this was amazing, wasnt it?" when he took away the plates of the main course. For that reason we even skipped dessert and went for an ice cream in Bregenz. As much as I disliked the food and the service - I will give it another try for some casual Käsespätzle and a beer as this seems to be their culinary limits.

i been here a few times already. All the times the food was really good. The service staff is also very nice! problem I find is the long wait till you registered to get in. Also the design of the room is a bit dated. But never the less I would strongly recommend eating here!

This restaurant definitely deserves its place in the Michelin guide. The decor is contemporary yet warm and there is a nice terrace in the back that is shielded from the sun by vines. The staff is very professional (but not snobby), efficient and attentive. The food is delicious! Regional dishes prepared with a skilled hand. Nice presentation, without the food just being piled on the plates. Simply, wonderful cuisine.

We sat outside at this restaurant on its ample covered terrace; there were pleasant views over the lake and all in all it was a very pleasant experience. The service however was slow and not desperately friendly; but this was balanced by a great soup, some excellent vegetarian pasta and a delicious dessert.Iâd certainly come again, but my top tip would be âDonât be in a rushâ

During the opera festival season and christmas holidays we open our doors the whole week, also on tuesday. We are looking forward to your visit at our restaurant.
This restaurant with traditional autrian cuisine menu and cosy interior offers good value for money combined with polite and friendly staff. Food is tasty & portions decent, yet it is nothing super special that would take your breath away. Good place for a quick lunch, no so much for a romantic dinner...

Das neue Restaurant in Bregenz! Frisch rennoviert neu interpretiert und regional!
The service had been completely slow. There was nothing goin on and then we still waited another 40 minutes for our food. We had the vegetarian dish and it didnt really taste so good so my girl left half and i told the service that we didnt like it. Risotto had a taste of nothing. Would not recommend this restaurant if you are in Bregenz. Hardcore pricy as well.Dear Philipp, first of all we want to thank you for the feedback even it is not that good. we care about every rating therefore we would appreciate to get more information about your stay and your food. Wich vegetarian dish did you order and could you please inform us on which day during what time you attended the restaurant? This will helps us to get more information about the waiter who served you and why the management didn't know anything of that grievance before your post. We know this will not compensate your unsatisfied stay in the Freischwimmer therefore we will ask you to get in contact with us so we are able to invite you once more to this nice place to fulfill your expectations!Your Freischwimmer Team
