A quaint name but with a specialty for steaks. I did not do a count but there must have been more than 20 varieties or ways of making steak with sauces that whet your appetite just on description alone in the menu. I had the highly recommended and popular black pepper steak while my son had the steak Bearnaise. You had a choice of 2 sides with your order. We both had a choice of potatoes (done your style) and a vegetable salad. My son chose the Cheddar Mash and I took the french fries. The steaks were ordered medium rare. It was about 210 grams and our dinner bill was NZD102.00 thereabouts including one coffee and a Brandy Schnapps. Overall it was great steak and just went well with the sides and oh yes we had the ox tail soup which was super laden with meat and tasted super. Great service from our english speaking waitress from Columbia! Here is your chance to test your Spanish and we did. Great night overall! would highly recommend to friends and family.Thank you for your review. We are very pleased you enjoyed your experience with us. We buy the best of NZ produce to present to our customers and have been doing so for 40 yrs..We hope to see you again. Cheers.

We were a group of 5 attending NZ for business conference eating here on a Sunday night. We ordered the four different types of oysters (Natural, Bakd Mayo, Tempura & Kilpatrick. Surprisingly all were large, even the so called small ones. I then had the shrimp and grits as an appetizer (entrée), which was a good portion Others had a mix of the Fish of the Day (pan fried Snapper), slow cooked Portuguese Chicken, Potato & Parmesan Gnocchi, and an Eye Fillet Steak, All were rated good or better by my peers. Our server was good and offered some good wine selections to go with our food. The location is great right on the Viaduct and within a short walk to Sky City and most Hotels. Prices are a little more expensive than some of the other options available.Thank you for taking the time to post your review, we appreciate your feedback. We hope to have you join us again at Oyster and Chop next time you dine on the viaduct.

My husband and I spent our last night in Auckland with our daughter and an old friend and ate at this great Argentinian place at Ponsonby Central. We wanted to check out the food court and chose this place on spec. We got there about 5.30/6pm before it was too busy, we liked the look of the place and the food looked particularly good. We were not disappointed. We sat at a table in the covered area outside the main restaurant. Great for watching the world go by. The decor is very rustic with basic, wooden tables & benches and lots of herbs in pots around the perimeter. The overall effect is welcoming. Our waitress was lovely and looked after us well.We had 2 steaks and 2 belly pork + a portion of fries and a portion of Dijon mustard roasted potatoes to share + I think we had 4 beers & 2 glasses of wine between us . The food was excellent! Tasty and cooked to perfection. Both the pork and steaks were so, so good. The bill was about $47.50 NZ a head, which we didn't think bad value for money, particularly as Ponsonby is an expensive and trendy area. We were very pleased with our on spec choice.

Went with a couple friends over from Australia. I got the King Crab and Calamari Entrees and the A5 Wagyu for a main and it was worth ever dollar. Absolutely cooked to perfection and hands down the best meal I've ever had.

Outstanding cellared wines, innovative cuisine, thoroughly professional service - as one of Auckland's favourite local restaurants, One Tree Grill offers a complete dining experience.
We planned on Orbit360 but due to the Sky City Convention Centre fire we looked for fine dining that was closer to where were staying. We had fine dining that exceeded our expectations and had a great waiter, Max. The Whitebait (NZ delicacy) was served coated on top of egg omlete roll. This made a great improvement from being stuck together with egg in the traditional manner. And that was the start of wonderful dishes presented in fine manner.
