Fresh "from scratch" Home Cooking in the Heart of Horse Country! Serving award winning Chicken Fried Steak and Coconut Cream Pie! Bakery on site serving fresh baked pies. Weekend Brunch served on Holiday Fridays, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 2pm, along with regular menu! Friendly staff, and can accommodate large groups!
Ordered BLT which wasn't anything out of the ordinary. My partner had chicken steak with potatoes and it was lacking seasoning, lots of it. In summary we were not necessarily dissapointed but it wasn't great either. Don't think I will stop by again.

We came in around 2pm on Thanksgiving Day. It was moderately busy and they offered a Thanksgiving Day special with sliced Turkey and ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing and corn bread for $16.95. We ordered that and an order of grilled chicken with a side salad, green beans and cowboy or ranch-style beans. Honestly, the only thing we liked was the grilled chicken, Turkey and salad. We should've returned all the rest, especially with a $45 price tag, before tip. We've been here for weekend breakfast and it's been decent but this was not a good experience. Many restaurants have "off" days and for us, this was Prairie House's "off" day. Our server was very sweet and she seemed to sense our satisfaction, but she did a nice job.

okay....you HAVE to go here! oh man the food was unique and amazing! The gentleman taking our order was fun to chat with and treated us like family! It's an old gas station and you sit outside to eat. I had a good old fashioned hamburger with all the fixens as well as some spicy french fries. The fries were INCREDIBLE!! Oh, and try the spiced iced tea.....SOOO good! You can tell it's been a family recipe for a long time. Good stuff!

A quick trip through the drive-thru and the next day a trip into the store. Both proved to be expedient and accurate. I was able to have my morning Java and roll and not be late for work! Thanks Starbucks!

Schwertner is this cafe, RBank (great little bank!), post office and a few house. The cafe is special, great regional comfort food, popular with the cowboy local crowd

I saw this little trailer next to a business on my morning commute. I finally stopped and am so glad that I did. I have had a few different lattes at this location and was completely impressed that they have almond milk (sweet and unsweet), soy milk, coconut milk and of course the different variations of regular milk. Now that I have found this little gem, I stop by most mornings.
Cons: They only have one espresso machine, so it takes a little time if you have a large order, but totally worth the wait.
Pros: Supporting local business
Variety of hot/cold coffee, teas and other drinks

First visit for me. Came here with my family and had a delicious breakfast. Coffee was piping hot and the staff is friendly and handing with refills. I had French toast,my son had a Denver in late and my husband had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage patties. French toast was nicely browned and firm. Husband enjoyed everything but the sausage which was overcooked. MY son said his omelet was very good. MY grandson enjoyed the farm animal cutouts and the French toast.

At Palio's, our dough is made from scratch daily, and we only use the freshest ingredients. We offer a friendly, open environment with amazing food at a relaxed setting. Palio's Pizza Cafe -Crossroads is also BYOB, so don't forget to bring your favorite beverage. Visit us, and see what we bring to the table!
We have long been fans of Palio's in Cross Roads, but that all changed recently. We arrived on a Saturday night about 9 PM. They close at 10 PM. The place was near empty. We asked the young lady at the counter if we had gotten there too late and she said no, come on in. We ordered dinner and went to get our drinks. The sweet tea dispenser was empty. We told the young lady at the counter the sweet tea dispenser was empty, and she said just a minute, let me tell my manager. She walked over to a dark haired man, told him the sweet tea dispenser was empty, and watched as he told her to tell us that there was unsweetened tea and to use it and put sugar in it.. It was too late for them to make sweet tea. We were in shock. We walked away, sweetened our tea with sugar, and waited on our dinner. We had asked that salads be served before pizza. The next thing we know, pizza is being delivered to the table, and they forgot about the salads, but will get them ASAP. The young lady delivers several pizzas but no pizza stands. We ask if she can bring a pizza stand out and she scurries off into the kitchen. She returns and said her manager has put them all up for the night. As we are eating, around 9:30 PM, we notice that the dirty rubber floor mats from the kitchen are being stacked in front of the ice cream display server, and that the staff is starting to wash down the kitchen floors. The cleaning which we witnessed was completely unsanitary. We asked for the manager's name and the owner's name. We were told Ali Melham was the manager and franchisee (owner). We will not take a chance with our health eating in an unclean restaurant, nor will we be treated like we are lucky to be eating someplace and don't deserve proper service. We won't be back.

Been going to Villa Grande since its original barn style location backnin 2007 on Hwy 380 next to Providence Village. To this day, food always excellent, great value for money, delicious margaritas, and always friendly attentive fast service. Highly recommended!

We went to Pilot Point to see Texas Tulips during Spring Break. When it was time for dinner, we stumbled onto the Bear's Den! Delicious, unique pizzas (or you can order the basic pizza) and garden fresh salads. I ordered a chicken raspberry chipotle based pizza! The salad we ordered had a large assortment of toppings. I guess kids eat free on Wednesdays. We had 4 kids who enjoyed their free cheese pizzas! The food exceeded our expectations. The service was outstanding! The best part....they have two beautiful (rescued) black bears (Barnaby and Bailey) who dine at 6:30. They are less than 10 feet from the patio tables! Adults and kids were mesmerized as the bears sat at their table and munched on fresh fruits, vegetables, peanuts and meat. There is an old fashioned playground and huge Jenga game for entertaining the kids, too. We enjoyed talking with the owners. They have a fire pit on the back patio and sometimes have special events. A bonus, part of the proceeds from the restaurant are used to help rescue more animals.
It was about an hour drive for me and I plan to go back!
