Llanes (the Concejo de Llanes, Conceyu de Llanes in Asturian language) is a municipality of the province of Asturias, in northern Spain. Stretching for about 30 km along the coast at the extreme east of the province, Llanes is bounded to the south by the high ridge of the limestone Sierra del Cuera, which rises to over 1,100 m. The region is part of the Costa Verde (Green Coast) of Spain, which is known for its spectacular coastal scenery, with 32 white sand beaches, and mountains covered with a deep green mantle. Llanes lies to the north of the Picos de Europa, a mountain range whose geology is almost entirely of limestone karst.

El Romano es una empresa que ofrece visitas guiadas a una plantacion de manzano de sidra y a un llagar. Se finaliza con una espicha...
This is not a typical "restaurant" (despite the TripAdvisor classification) -- it's a warm and relaxed experience of Asturian produce and hospitality at a small cider orchard. Of all the meals I've had out, this one was the most like being a guest in someone's home, and it was a true highlight of our stay in the area. El Romano is run by a group of cousins whose grandfather is at the center of the orchard's story, and their hospitality is inviting and excellent. During an initial tour of the orchard and the cider press, you absorb a lot of wonderful context about cider making in this area of Spain. And this is of more than just academic interest, because their cider, made on a small craft scale, is truly excellent, with a delicious earthy quality. The meal that follows is delicious and varied, making use of the Asturias's dairy, meat, and seafood, but what is perhaps most special about it is the mellow, rustic environment, with the table beside the old press, and the companionship of the guests. Popular sidrerias in town can have an enjoyable bustle, but there's also something of a hectic quality to them, and El Romano is the exact opposite, welcoming and completely unhurried. Some words about language: As English speakers we were made to feel very welcome. There is some English speaking ability among the cousins, and the orchard tour is in Spanish -- while I don't speak well enough to understand every nuance, they made sure we grasped key points. In terms of the meal, the food and drink do all the talking. This was a special experience, very fun and highly recommended. Since places around the table are so few, I'd make sure to book in advance for any trip to the area.Thank you for your review. We appreciate so much that you have enjoyed Asturias and our Craft Cider. El Romano Crew hope to see you soon.Regards

Restaurant sits on top of (for a better word) the fish mart, (Lonja del pescado ) in the port of Llanes; this is where the fishing boats bring their daily catch which are auctioned among the authoritized members of the mart.It is a modern, airy, clean looking bar and restaurant with the freshest fish, shellfish and seafood. The waiters are very knowledgeable about the daily catch offer and suggest the most appropriate preparation for each variety of fish and seafood. The bar offers a good selection of tapas, both hot and cold. The place is always very busy and reservations are a must.

This really was a lovely restaurant. So good that we went back twice in a short stay in Llanes. Fantastic food and service - overused phrases that have a real meaning here. You are made to feel at home immediately. The food is freshly cooked with original twists on classic dishes, served beautifully in lovely surroundings, with a great wine list. We loved it. Easily the best restaurant in town and one of the best Iâve ever been in anywhere...

Delicious food, an amazing collection of old farm buildings that have been knocked together to create a restaurant, and a lovely atmosphere - lots of families out to celebrate a weekend meal when we were there for lunch. I would exercise caution with portion sizes though - the capocho was absolutely enormous. We shared it (having been warned by the staff) but it was enough to feed four. The family next to us also failed to finish theirs... they were happy to pack it up for us to take away though

Follow the old Pancar road out of Llanes through Parres and you'll soon find yourself climbing into the Sierra del Cuera mountains that provide the backdrop to this particularly beautiful part of Asturias. Keep going up for about five miles through switchback after switchback and eventually you'll reach the small hamlet of El Mazucu, surely too far off the beaten track to host a restaurant worth visiting? Wrong.El Rixon is so popular with locals that you'll often have to wait for a table at busy times. Also remember to take cash - no electronic payment accepted. The speciality of El Rixon is its Parilla (barbecue) which is ably handled by the village mayor. You'll see ribs, gargantuan steaks and local goat all sizzling away as you make your way to the table. Being in the mountains they also make and smoke their own chorizo sausage and have an excellent cheeseboard of local cheeses. Desserts are homemade too and not bad by spanish standards. But it's the barbecued meat that you really came for. Not one for vegetarians.

Reservas sólo en el comedor, no en la terraza. (Si algún cliente con reserva prefiriese comer en terraza, tendrÃa que apuntarse en la lista de espera, disculpen las molestias)
The food was very good, especially the meat and fish dishes, but there was also a delicious vegetarian salad. I went with a group, so we ordered a variety of things to share, and everyone found something that they loved. It's got a homey vibe, but the wait staff was great, the food came out quickly, and the pricing is great â very affordable given the quantity and quality!

I went with friends and a French couple we met the the bar. We had the house wine at the bar and it was very good local vintage. We meandered upstairs and ordered the house special for the day. It was a local white fish wrapped on ham and stuffed with something, covered with a great light cheese sauce. The meal was fantastic. If you go I would recommend the special or ask Ricardo, the owner, what he recommends. The location is on side street on the right about 1km from A-8.Enjoy

Restaurante con mas 100 años de historia, especializado en comida tradicional Asturiana, realizada con productos locales. Dispone de amplia terraza sobre el rio y zona infantil. Aconsejable reservar.
During the hottest week in EU memory, including northern Spain, we ended up in Mestas de Ardisana for a night (at the Hotel Benzua, which evidently used to serve food but does no longer, so I'm told). The proprietor at the Hotel suggested the Casa xico, so there we went. Now, keep in mind, it was 40-42 degrees C., which is nearing 100° F., so it was a less than climate-controlled experience. The food, however, was a fine accompaniment to wine, and verdinas, and a variety of sausages and morcilla, and the somewhat peculiar (let's just say "original") cooking of Asturias and this corner of northern Spain: corn-based, rather than wheat or rice. And, for all that, delicious. My wife's Spanish isn't quite up to mine, so she left for a walk back to the hotel and a nap (less than a half-mile away), and I hung out talking to the other lunch customers, who were remarkable, even for a summer lunch outside in rural Spain. The entire afternoon was to be cherished.

This restaurant is somehow different from all the other excellent) restaurants that we tried during our trip in Asturias. Local ingredients were transformed in some delicious dishes. The service was great too. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. Everything was quite light and portion were not as big as in other restautants but they were just fine.

This a nice restaurant to visit if driving on the north coast of Spain. The barbecued meat is excellent and at lunch time the restaurant was oozing with life. It is a typical local restaurant and wonderful if you are hungry for barbecued meat. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a big parking in front and free wifi!
