Asiago (Italian: [aˈzjaːɡo]; Cimbrian: Slege, German: Schlägen [ˈʃlɛːɡn̩]) is the name of both a major Italian PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) cheese and a minor township (population roughly 6,500) in the surrounding plateau region (the Altopiano di Asiago or Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, Asiago plateau) in the Province of Vicenza in the Veneto region of Northeastern Italy. It is near the border between the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regions in the foothills of the Alps, and about equidistant (60 km) from the major cities of Trento to the west and Vicenza to the south. The Asiago region is the origin of Asiago cheese. The town was the site of a major battle between Austrian and Italian forces on the Alpine Front of World War I. It is a major ski resort destination as well as the site of the Astrophysical Observatory of Asiago, operated by the University of Padua.

You might not stop at this wonderful small restaurant just outside Asiago but you should. The warm atmosphere, the accommodating staff and the excellent food make it a wonderful experience.

A friend of ours recommended this restaurant if traveling to Asiago. We both tried the bigoli style pasta, but they offer various types if you prefer other spaghetti styles. It was very crowded when we entered the place, but the waitress got us a table ready in about 10 minutes. It stayed crowded for the whole meal with people streaming in and out of the restaurant.
We both enjoyed the plates we ordered and both were good portions which we couldn't finish. I wouldn't say it was a wonderful meal although it was good and quite filling. The prices are okay. They pair each dish with a beer, which the restaurant has a varied menu to choose from. There are many German and Belgian beers which is a plus when visiting this establishment.
The only real negative was we asked for a to-go box because we had quite a bit of past left. The waitress never returned with our to-go box. My wife and I decided we'd eat there again on our next trip up the mountain.

Deserved number one spot in Asiago for this restaurant that will make you puzzled looking at it from the outside. Humble exteriors but once you walk through the door you just know it will be a great dining experience. Extraordinary customer care for a country like Italy where you might get treated like a nuisance in some places: here you are spoiled by the waiters who will take care of all your needs. The meats are cooked on a fireplace locaated at the back of the room (few seats, reserving is a must) and the cold meats are cut fresh in front of you. The dishes combine the local traditions with the experiment and presentation you expect in a top restaurant. Lovely desserts too. The bill comes at around 50€ per head including drinks and tip, we had starters (antipasti), main course, dessert, coffee and liquers (on the house). The only price I found a bit steep was the antipasti (21€ each), everything else I woud say it's correctly priced. Very good all around dining experience.

Motorcycled through here. Didn't expect much of Asiago (thought it would be support town for the local agriculture) but it was GORGEOUS. Very chic little town, lovely square, beautiful buildings. We sat outside on the Terrace. People watching. Will definitely come back to this part of the world. The food looked fantastic. They were equally happy to serve us espresso and a cookie.

... For kids but also for adults.
What a lovely surprise . This restaurant is a hidden gem lost in the middle of nowhere in the woods . Perfect for further exploration in the area.
Here besides food you find a place well maintained and organised for all kind of activities targeting kids and babies.
Besides the outstanding scenery there's also a restaurant and its food. The venue is typical of the area and the food is well cooked , pasta mostly home made and their meet is pretty tasty.
Pretty good the "grigliata di carne" with polenta "and their melted cheese. I had a Cimbra beer to go with and it was a nice surprise.
No matter how big is the place , everything seems clean and tidy.
The personnel , young and good looking, was fast and competent .
What else to say? No much but just try to book well in advance of you think to come here at pick hours during weekends and bank holidays ... Especially if it's a sunny day.
Just a note: the parking lot being a mess , mug and water everywhere , but that's due to the fact you are approaching the Wilderness .
Nice
Ciao

We had had quite a tiring day hiking around the Commonwealth War Cemeteries in the woods near Asiago and wandered into town to get something to eat. Everywhere on the main street seemed v busy and pricey so we wandered off to look for somewhere a tad out of the town centre and noticed this place (We saw the rear entrance we suspect).
Went in - very friendly staff - great English - Menu with possibly more Pizzas than I have ever seen on a single menu. Ordered a Diavola and my wife ordered a Ham and Mushroom (Cant remember the Pizza Name !) and 2 beers.
Beers within Seconds - Pizza in minutes.
WHAT A PIZZA ! Glorious thin crust - massiveley tasty cheese and spicey topping. Absolutley scrummy. We both rated this as one of the best Pizzas we have eaten - and we visit Italy a lot. Wasn't too pricey either.
All in all cannt praise the place enough ! Highly reccomended !!

Very nice ice cream. Not many choices during winter but what is available is very tasty. One of the only places to get a gelato in Asiago in winter months.Thank you for your good review. The limited selection of flavors used to always offer a great product even in winter. In spring and summer the choice of 28 flavors.
