Various generations and ownerships of El Rey have been our favorite place in the area for many decades. My mother grew up in Miami and we ate at El Rey there (since closed) and later Globe when we came here to visit my grandmother, aunt & uncle. I read that this restaurant closed awhile but recently reopened under new ownership. From our experience it didn't lose a thing; still provides excellent Mexican food. We came here for brunch after a hiking trip and had the most awesome huevos rancheros I recall in our recent history--and we eat huevos as often as we can. The plates they brought out were staggering in size and excellent in quality--homemade frijoles, green chili, tortillas, lots of chese and my eggs over easy were just right. My only suggestion: don't butter the tortillas.Yuck.

Visited here on a motorcycle trip through globe Arizona. On the bike I like to avoid left turns. This right turn led me to Ed's. Friendly Mexico restaurant and very tasty food

We stopped for dinner and ordered 3 chimichangas-the regular, the chicken mix, and the green Chile chicken. They were delicious and reasonably priced. We had great service and the free chips and salsa were yummy too. My 10-year old daughter really enjoyed the Spanish rice and refried beans. She says, âThey were legendary!â

We had a nice lunch here. Though the menu suggested routine American-style Mexican food, there is a world of difference between standard commercial and home-cooked food. We ordered two chimichangas - a green chili and a machaca. When they arrived we were a little surprised - they were good-sized, but not the gigantic productions one often sees. Actually, that proved to be a very good thing. These were hand-made home-cooked chimis. The green chili was good... and the machaca was great! We ordered the sugar-cinnamon sopapillas for dessert, and were again a bit surprised. Typically we look for airy puffs. These are much more substantial and appear to be made with whole wheat flour. Much "breadier". Not bad - just different. Typically left over sopapillas are not much, but these held up to refrigeration and reheating in the microwave a day and a half later! Speaking of which - the leftover chimis didn't get re-heated... they were great cold. That says a lot about how NOT greasy they were and how excellently the machaca was spiced.

This smallish place was quite busy during our visit (5:30 on a Friday night). The quesadilla we ordered was quite good... the cheese crisp was a little too dry for me...it was like having melted cheese on a thin cracker. Only beer and wine here...no margaritas. There was plenty of parking...they have a lot and there is street parking.

Our group of 10 visitors to the area called ahead for our table on a Thursday night at 5:30 which we hoped may be ahead of the locals. It turned out to not be terribly busy that night. The prices are very reasonable. Wednesday & Thursday nights are 2 for 1 margaritas which caused a need for a sober driver ! The only disappointment was they do not have nor will they make fish tacos !

Fair-priced, friendly service, informal atmosphere, lots of bustle. The menu you'd expect in the proportiions you'd expect. No surprises.

Theses guys make the best Carnitas anywhere! I love the plate or the burro. Only thing is they have different sauces - no salsa, which I love with chips. So this place is a bit different if you are looking to munch on chips and salsa while waiting for your food. Over all everything we have ordered there is excellent. Two locations in Globe.
