I was hesitant at first because you order at the counter but I am so glad we went in. The tacos were incredible and my granddaughters gluten free chicken strips were the best chicken strips I had ever tasted. They have a fabulous wine list as well as a big variety of special coffee drinks and teas. The cafe has a great vibe as well.

My wife and I visited The Barley Hound restaurant in Prescott, AZ, on a Monday evening in July, 2019. This was part of her birthday celebration getaway. Since we were staying at the hotel right next door to this restaurant, we thought we’d give it a try.The view of this restaurant from the sidewalk reveals what appears to be an older house converted into a restaurant. There was a fairly large outdoor dining patio with booths, small tables and a few bar-style tables and bar stools. We went inside and were greeted by a very, very young man (his physiognomy appeared to be that of a scared young person) who escorted us to a table near the sidewalk, provided us with menus and then off he went. After just a few minutes we were greeted by our waitress (C******n). She portrayed a very nice smile and warmly welcomed us to the Barley Hound. I asked her if there were any specials that were not on the menu and she said, “yes, we have a trout special. We asked for a few minutes to peruse the menu and off she went. After another 2-3 minutes one of her helpers brought two water glasses and a carafe filled with water and containing a sprig of mint. When the waitress returned we ordered. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Pasta. I ordered the Red Trout. After about a fifteen (15) minute wait, my wife’s pasta and 5-shrimp entree was delivered. But alas, mine was nowhere in sight. The waitress said that my meal would be delivered shortly. So while waiting I suggested my wife start eating while it was still hot. She took a taste of the pasta and said that it was appropriately hot, very tasty, as well as just a little spicy. Then she looked at the shrimp. Her first comment was, “I think it’s raw”. She cut into the shell and removed a small portion of one of the shrimp and took a bite. Her expression of shock was very apparent, i.e., it was grossly under-cooked. She offered me a small bite. I bit into it and immediately spit it out into a napkin. It was indeed raw.At this point, still no Red Trout...The waitress returned and apologized for the delay with my trout. While she was there I told her about the raw shrimp. She apologized for that and offered to relocate the shrimp to a little plate for returning to the kitchen and so that my wife could at least eat some of the pasta while still waiting for my entrée to be served. Still waiting, waiting, waiting (about 30 minutes in total)... but still no red trout to be seen...After a few more minutes the waitress returned to the table only to explain that it was her fault that the trout was delayed (?). She apologized multiple times and then off she went.So after another few minutes went by, someone from the kitchen served my red trout. So from the time my wife’s entrée was first served, it was about thirty-five (35) minutes until my entrée arrived. But whose counting? Well quite frankly, I was.About the tardy red trout: The plate was warm, the red trout, spinach and potatoes were all appropriately hot and cooked to a proper degree of doneness. There were actually two trout filets; one on top of the vegetables and another actually hidden under the vegetables. The taste of the trout and the vegetables was actually quite nice with a distinct aftertaste of lemon. So I was pleased with the red trout special. While I was getting started on my trout, the waitress returned with my wife’s shrimp. My wife tested one of the four (fifth was gone) and said that it was indeed cooked to an appropriate degree of doneness. After we were finished with our entrees, the waitress returned and offered to provide a complementary desert, perhaps a slice of cheesecake. We accepted. It was delivered about five minutes later and had a little candle on top. A nice gesture. So after another five minutes or so, the manager (I assume) and the waitress came to our table and both apologized for the delays. The waitress asked if we consumed alcohol? We said yes. The manager explained that they had a little mix-up with my red trout order. He apologized again and departed. A few minutes later he came to our table with two glasses of a sparkling white wine. It was a very nice gesture.Overall: The service and the attitude of the manager and waitress was commendable. They apologized for the problems and exerted special effort to make amends. The waitress’s service was actually very good, albeit she admitted to making the mistake with the red trout order (perhaps forgot to place the order?).The setting outside on the patio is very pleasant with mature trees surrounding the property.Remember the mention of the “...very, very young man (his physiognomy appeared to be that of a scared young person)...”? During our stay it seems he dropped at least two trays of drinks...we really felt sorry for that young man. Here’s the most important bottom line question – will we be back? I believe so and here’s why... While there were a few screw-ups with the timing, the waitress and the manager did what was reasonable and responsible to make amends. The food...One “No” and one “Yes”. So we’ll see the next time we visit the Barley Hound restaurant in Prescott, Arizona.

We stopped in for a quick meal while we were in town. Two of us had the sharable chicken fingers and the serving was 3 gigantic thin half chicken breasts with a coating that was a bit spicy. I wouldn't order these again. Another person had barbeque and it was good and the Cobb salad looked good. Service was good but had to wait for a new pot of coffee to be made. Bathroom clean.Thank you for choosing Prescott Brewing Company. I'm sorry you found the coating a bit spicy. As you probably know, spiciness is somewhat of a personal opinion, some people think something is spicy whereas someone else might desire even more spiciness. I appreciate your nice comments on the barbeque menu item, and our Chef salad you referenced as the Cobb salad is very popular here. I apologize for the wait on the coffee, but thank you for the positive on service. Thank you also for the nice compliment on the bathroom cleanliness...Our restrooms are heavily used and we do our absolute best to keep them up to snuff!

Prescott, Arizona itself is an historical place. This was the territorial capitol before Arizona was a state. The restaurant was in business in 1877 and hosted many famous characters from western history including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. Yes, these were real people.Located on "Whiskey Row" on the town square in Prescott the restaurant is easy to find. The stage is set as soon as you walk in the door. The huge original antique bar is worth a visit in itself. A walk past the bar and numerous tables brings you into a large dining area. The walls are lined with many artifacts and information about Arizona history and the West.I was there with a group of crew members from the Commemorative Air Force out of Mesa, Arizona that were in town for an air show. Our group of 11 were greeted by our waitress Estrella. She was dressed in 1870's period garb which enhanced the scene. The menu has a wide variety of steak, fish and some Tex-Mex dishes. I had a buffalo burger which was terrific. Everyone else commented on the quality of their meals. The service was excellent by the charming and attractive Estrella. This is a great historic restaurant the will be enjoyed by the entire family. I think that children especially will be interested in seeing some living history. The Palace should not be missed.

We had lunch at the Gurley St. Grill in Prescott, AZ on a Monday in July 2019 at about noon. The restaurant wasn't very crowded when we arrived. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess who escorted to a window booth on the south side of the restaurant, facing Gurley Street. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. Both of our lunch entrees were served within about a 12 minute wait. The food was hot, delicious and plentiful. My wife had the Grilled cheese with bacon. She said it was hot and delicious. I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich, but without the bun. It arrived as ordered and was both hot and delicious. My onion rings on the side were also appropriately hot, but just a little under-cooked. The birthday girl (my wife) got a complimentary slice of carrot cake...a very nice gesture.Overall: This was our second visit to the Gurley St. Grill. The first visit was about three years ago. Again, service, quality and quantity of food was consistently good. Will we be back? Absolutely.Wow - thank you so much for the detailed and kind review! We truly appreciate you taking time to post it. Thank you again for coming in and please don't wait another three years!

This place offers a variety of salads, sandwiches and entrees in a very low-key environment (porch sitting under gently rotating fans) or "dining room" (shorts are more than adequate attire), but it's the "adult milkshakes" that make this place outstanding. We tried both the Baileys Irish Cream with Oreo cookies milkshake and the Kahlua with Ghirardelli Chocolate Liquer milkshake. Both come in the usual LARGE metal milkshake containers, which more than fill a 16 oz glass. Excellent!! Yummy!! To die for!! But OH SO FILLING. We should have split one (or the other) and come back another night to try one of the other flavors.Friendly and helpful staff. "Backporch" ambiance. An easy place to find something for everyone.

My uncle, during his retirement years, used to live in Prescott and we came here often and always enjoyed the lunches. Flash forward to today and our first dinner here as knowledgable past lunch customers. Restaurant is clean and tidy as I've always expected. No host or hostess at the entrance... we waited a few minutes until we had to go looking for someone to seat us. Our booth was clean and ready to go. Service was just fine. Their bread with the meal was excellent as it's always been. My steak (and I'm reviewing it based upon the price paid factor) was OK. Plenty warm enough and cooked to order, but without additional seasoning that I added (just salt & pepper), it was bland tasting and though not tough, it was not tender enough to earn their mid-$40s price. Baked Potato was excellent with butter/salt/pepper and the veggies were just right. I wasn't offered steak sauce, or additional toppings for the potato. Overall a pretty good meal marred by over-pricing of what you get. If this had been a more fine-dining experience, we would have valued the meal more highly, but the existing ambiance does not suit fine-dining.

Great location next to creek When you make a reservation you should not have to wait 30 minutes Best then to not take reservations and make it first come first serve You can call for wait time We ordered Sangria which was very disappointing Not a good blend We've had better many places The fried avocado was good and the crab cakes were delicious The escargot was disappointing presented on bread soaked in gravy Normally it would be presented in garlic butter as we have enjoyed many times We also tried the Tabouli which was excellent served with pita bread The menu is very extensive which will bring us back to try more items Hopefully managment is receptive to constructive suggestions Thank you for dining with us and for taking the time to write a review. - We read 'em all and learn from them too!Not sure when you dined with us, but occasionally other guests get lost in the evening and stay longer than we anticipate. It doesn't happen often, but we generally leave ample times between turns to allow guests the appropriate time to enjoy themselves, while not infringing on other reservations. Music nights can be especially challenging - but your comments were definitely noted.Yeah, the escargot is not a traditional presentation, but we have been serving for over 20 years. We use Sherry and Fresh Herbs instead of White Wine & Garlic. I would say most people really enjoy it, but some may prefer the traditional prep.Sounds like you had an overall enjoyable experience, and we look forward to having you back soon. Thanks again,Barry
