Reviews on Latin food in Arica, Arica and Parinacota Region, Chile. Arica (/əˈriːkə/ ə-REE-kə; Spanish: [aˈɾika]) is a commune and a port city with a population of 196,590 in the Arica Province of northern Chile's Arica y Parinacota Region. It is Chile's northernmost city, being located only 18 km (11 mi) south of the border with Peru. The city is the capital of both the Arica Province and the Arica and Parinacota Region. Arica has a mild, temperate climate with some of the lowest annual rainfall rates anywhere in the world, consequently there are rarely any clouds over Arica. Arica is located at the bend of South America's western coast known as the Arica Bend or Arica Elbow. At the location of the city are two lush valleys that dissect the Atacama Desert converge: Azapa and Lluta. These valleys provide fruit for export.

Estuve hace un año en este restaurante y me volvió a sorprender por la calidad de sus platos y por la excelente atención, muy bueno

We picked the menu for 2. The price was 10.000 pesos, but he charged an extra 10% for services. We got 2 spring rolls, 4 won tons, one shared main dish, 2 portions of (tasty) rice and 2 medium drinks. The pollo tamarindo was more like sweet and sour sauce. But good

Great small restuant. Chicken tacos were excellent. Fast service with many locals esting there( a sign of a consistently good place)

Finding a decent place to eat in Arica seems harder than it should be: you can walk around downtown for a while and see very few decent restaurants. So with limited choices, the attractive looking Cafe del Mar stands out. When we arrived for dinner, we were "sold" by the blackboard outside promising a 3-course salmon dinner at a reasonable price. The deal was also on the printed menu. Unfortunately, the waiter told us that was only available for lunch. It's incomprehensible to me for a restaurant to leave a blackboard outside for a special that's not being offered, but things aren't always so straightforward in Chile. We then scrambled to find something else to order, as there aren't a lot of obvious dinner choices on the menu. We decided on seafood crapes and hamburgers as alternatives. Both were reasonably priced (4000 to 5000 pesos, as I recall) and tasty. The food was well prepared, and the service was decent, considering how busy the restaurant was (which I attributed to few other decent dinner options). Bottomline, not a terrific dining experience, but a decent one. I doubt you'll do much better in downtown Arica.

While looking for a nice place to have lunch, my wife and I stumbled into Akun. Located inside Casa Beltran Hotel Boutique, Akun fit exactly what we were looking for. We were delighted by great food featuring a fusion of Chilean and Peruvian flavors and excellent service to boot.

We are La Bicicleta café, experts in classic Chilean sandwiches and hamburgers. A different place where quality and good taste is mixed.
A great spot for lunch. Burgers are very good. Fresh ingredients, big size and very tasty. Good value but a larger portion of fries (included with the burger) would make this place perfect. Definitely worth a visit if you like a good burger. Friendly staff and quick service in pleasant surroundings.

We ate here twice around the holidays. Other restaurants seemed to have long lines outside, but this one was easy to get a table quickly. The service was very attentive and very good. Linen table clothes and napkins add a touch of sophistication. We had the filet mignon and shrimp entrees along with pisco sours. Food was cooked perfectly. One the one occasion the beef was not quite right, they replaced it quickly with a very acceptable one. Pisco sours are very good. This restaurant is a great choice for a nice dinner.

I went to RAYU Restaurant on the advice of the staff at the Hotel I stayed in Arica. What a meal I had. The Abalone to start with was a dream come true as I had been dying to have some before I returned to Peru on my business trip. The plate was a nice size, actually more than I expected and to put it in simple words it was AWESOME. Now for the Pisco Sour being prepared at my table, that was just art!!! Not only was it good but it left me wanting more. I recommend that you go there with friends, although I did enjoy myself people watching, I recommend you make reservations if you plan on going there after 8pm.
