Really enjoyed lunch at this beautiful little restaurant. Full of locals, the staff were friendly and helped me with my Portugeuse! Clams done simply on the grill with coriander and lemon were the best my husband and I have eaten. Octopus skewers were also delicious. They also do Caldeirada if you ring up 24hours in advance to order it. Would definitely recommend if you're in the Lourinha/Toledo area.

Areal Beach Bar is located literally on the beach. Just 3km from the small town of Lourinhã, this location is a perfect getaway. Enjoy a drink, a snack or a meal while taking advantage of the breathtaking ocean view. The space in itself is very inviting and realxing for anyone looking for a perfect afternoon.
An unrivalled location and a relaxing atmosphere hiding a really excellent menu. Very helpful staff and amazing desserts. A must visit.

I never go to Portugal without at least one visit to this quaint restaurant. They have a full menu, but there specialty is the Caldeirada. The wait can be a little long, but this is because everything is made fresh. In my experience, it is well worth the wait.

Have eaten at both closely located Avenida Restaurants. All food has been prepared and cooked freshly and in a timely manner. Service has always been outstanding, staff speak several languages. Seafood dishes are especially good. We find both establishments great value for money. The staff have always been very helpful, happy and polite on all of our visits.

This restaurant was typical of many restaurants in and around Lourinha in that they are not at all inspiring, most offering basically the same old "traditional" menu. This "traditional" label usually means basic and average plain food, average service, in simple surroundings along with putting out little or no effort to improve. It's just all to easy to sit on their "traditional" laurels. In my opinion, at Castelo (and others) there is no attempt to improvise on the “traditional” or adapt to modern food trends or techniques so as to stand out from like restaurants, it's just one of the crowd offering the same old menu from menu central. How about someone offering “Traditional with a twist” or Noveau Traditional (I know that’s a contradiction in terms) just to break-up the monotony and to break away from the pack? We had the Mediterranean Salmon which was served swimming in a bowl of olive oil with boiled potatoes and salad. It was not all appetizing or satisfying. I guess we got what was to be expected but were hoping for something better. I give the restaurant an average rating as it was average for the area but I doubt if it and others like it would last long if it was transplanted elsewhere. We found that locating a decent restaurant in and around Lourinha was a bit of a chore that generally went unrewarded. The above may sound a little harsh but after four nights in Lourinha it’s how I felt. Our best meal, by far, was a little Italian place in Areia Branca, Pizzaria da Praia, with lots of great pasta dishes, Deserts, ice creams and Pizza too all served with enthusiasm and pride in their place and in their food.

Good home cooking. There is nothing remarkable or memorable about the food. It's just okay. The location is nice and the decor of the restaurant is very inviting.
We ordered a 'tropical' grill. The meat is covered in fruits that are far from tropical (apples and kiwi) I suppose they put any fruit that is available at the moment they cook the dish. The portions are huge! Too big to be appealing. We also ordered a Costoleta de Novillo, and it was a huge piece of meat on a bloody big bone. Not particularly tasty and very dry. But, you can eat it.
The service is good. It's a good place to go with friends or family who are not too demanding. If you stick to the holy Trinity of portuguese food (bachalau, sardines, pork) you'll be fine!

I've been here twice, and I really enjoyed this place! The first time, I ate pizza and the second one I ate pasta. I loved both! It was a little bit expensive, but it worth it. The decoration is simple and peaceful...with relaxing music. The staff was very gentil and friendly.

After some disappointed meals in other restaurants on the island, Canto do Cais was recommended to us by a local habitant, and sorted out to be the best choice we could have made, so we reserved our place for 6 more evenings at the Chef's table during the rest of our holiday. Kind people, an excellent, personal service and fresh fish on the plate, accompanied by live music. A recepy for an excellent evening. We are defenitly coming back!
