Things to do in Villarrica
After a few years of world travel, how great to return & find this excellent bastion of peruvian cuisine in the neighborhood! Run by a strong matriarchy, they serve generous portions, excellent seafood & one of the best pisco sours I've experienced (the señoras are quite proud of serving only peruvian pisco). 6 kms towards Pucón from Villarrica; Cruz Blanca bus stop.

Although the waitress approached with a menu under her arm, she did not put in front of me. She asked if I was there for lunch and when I said yes, she said they had salmon. Thinking this was "el menu del dia", a set menu, I said okay. What she served and charged me for was an expensive salmon fillet with a creamy shrimp sauce - very bland tasting and with a huge pile of fries on the side. Way more than I wanted. I guess I should have clarified, but I did feel she took advantage, knowing that I was a tourist. I also asked for a glass of water, which she never did bring to the table. I won't eat there again. Many other nice choices in Villarica.

It is a place where we make unfiltered craft beer. We also have homemade bread for our sandwich and the special pizza dough. Our grill is on for cooking the softest meat
What a wonderful dinner/brewery experience this ended up being. On a whim, while driving into Pucon, my husband and I swung in to see what a craft brewery was like in beautiful Chile, and we were not disappointed to say the least. The brewery boasted at least 5 beers on tap, everything from a pale ale to an IPA to a stout and the menu included a large array of pizzas, hamburgers, entrees and sides. The pizza and large salad I order was excellent and my husband raved about his smoked ribs. The table near ours had some amazing looking (and huge) hamburgers. Iâd highly recommend this brewery both for the food and the beer.

Music, craic, good fun and great beer! They make their own (if I'm not mistaken) and offer up other local names. Great decor, and a great time. Decent eats too.

Pleasant restaurant, family care, German specialties, outdoor games for children, shelters, hot tubs and sauna surrounded by natural surroundings.
I can count on one hand how many times I've been so warmly welcomed by a hotel's owners, as I have in Huincaterra (and I've been to some of the world's most hospitable countries, like Ireland, New Zealand and Canada). When asked for tips on places to visit nearby, they pointed us in the way of some pretty breathtaking destinations, that we wouldn't have found otherwise. The hotel itself is fantastic. It's as good looking and as cozy as it gets. The rooms are small cabins in the bush, made of wood, with internal heating, a mini fridge, robes and fantastically comfortable beds. My room was by a river, with the large window literally looking down at it. Words can't describe the feeling of falling asleep to the sound of a river and seeing it just as you wake up. But in the offchance that the sound should bother you, they've also got rooms away from it.Although the hotel does offer one or more rooms with bathroom inside, my one had a separate one (private, nonetheless). To me it was no big deal at all to walk ten steps from the room to the toilet (even in the snowy winter)... it actually made the experience that much more interesting. Now, the food is something else. Simply amazing. It is cooked by one of the owners, who's of German heritage (actually he's fully German himself). Likely the best German food I've ever tasted. The breakfast is also one of a kind... large, diverse and tasty. The owners actually bought more fruit specially for us, knowing that, as Brazilians, we do fancy them on our breakfast. If plane tickets for Chile were free (or at least no so bloody expensive) I'd go and stay every other weekend at Huincaterra, just for the sake of it.
