We visited in a Tuesday afternoon on a whim while looking around Historic Appomattox. Really we desperately wanted an English afternoon cream tea which would have finished the visit off perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised by Baine's. No cream tea but a welcoming atmosphere and a friendly staff and a cup of tea!
The boys enjoyed exploring and reading the books while we sank in to the leather sofas. It was a restful half hour out of the heat of the day.
If you are looking for a book or music then I am sure Baine's is a good choice. If you are after refreshing cup of tea I know Baine's is the answer.

We had sandwiches for lunch, and they were good...pleasantly surprised. Service is friendly and nice too. Shirley has worked there 50+ years... and that is a good indication of the quality of this place.

Our restaurant offers elevated country fare for lunch, supper and Sunday brunch with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Indulge in homemade desserts, house-crafted cocktails and Virginia wines and beers as well.
Following a visit to Appomattox National Park, wife and I decided to try The Babcock House for lunch. We hadn't focused on the fact that this is a Bed and Breakfast, but you can read more about that on the website. House/restaurant is nicely decorated...MoreWe really appreciate the time you took to write such a thoughtful review! I am so glad you enjoyed your meal with us and hope you can make it back our way sometime in the future.

Open 7 Days A Week
Located right in downtown Appomattox, this is a little mom-n-pop restaurant that serves home cooking. Chicken fried steak, pinto beans, mashed potatoes and cornbread was my lunch for the day, served with a refreshing glass of sweet tea. The price is right - less than $10, and service is friendly. Love these hometown standards!

We're from the northeast and love NY style pizza and great sauce - Mamma Terezinha's has both, not to mention delicious sausage. We were very happy with everything we ordered - even the salad was extremely fresh and tasty. They also sell pizza by the slice. It's not a fancy restaurant but it's clean and the service is friendly.

We ordered catfish, but the owner came out a few minutes later to inform us that the freezer died and he lost all the catfish - apparently our server wasn't aware, even though another customer was just informed the same thing...
The good news is that he recommended salmon patties to replace it and they were very good. My wife's meal was a total of four sides (for less than $6) and all of our sides were very good. Our server also forgot my salad which arrived after I had finished half my meal...

Our family met in Appomattox for a meal. We chose here and we are very glad of it. The staff and servers were very accommodating for a party of 10. The food was generous and excellent. All the entrees were more than adequate. Many left overs were taken home. The entrees were very tasty and beautifully presented. A must go anytime u are in the area. Just like their other stores in Altavista and Gretna.

Was promptly seated. Felicia-server- allowed plenty of time to select the Catfish Nuggets, with side orders being fries & cup of slaw. Between ordering & serving was longer than expected. Not many people when arrived, about 5:00, possibly the meal's preparation takes longer, however the wait was worth the time. The Catfish was six large nuggets, deep fried( I'm guessing) hot to the taste & tasty. Had enough for the next night's meal. Dessert was coconut cake. Overall meal was satisfying & recommend it. Plenty of parking.

Stopped in at 8:00 pm on a weeknight. About 10 customers in restaurant. Cocktails were not outrageously priced like most restaurants. Gin, curaçao, and pineapple juice cocktail for $4.50. Husband had seafood marinara which was plentiful and good. Clams were served in shell around edge, which my husband felt was the right way to present the dish. Shrimp was good, too. I had a fish filet sandwich that was pretty standard.
Prices were reasonable. Would give 3.5 stars, but number is not available.

Found in a strip mall, which in many cases we have found good Chinese food...not so much this time. Appeared to have a limited buffet and though a decent selection, not one that would knock my socks off. Tables were clean and staff was good however the seating area was booth style and most booths could use some refurbishing. (Not that it impacts the food necessarily, but the overall ambiance.) If back in the area, we are likely to skip this restaurant.
