I wanted to like this brasserie, as it had nice atmosphere and very friendly and efficient staff. However, the burger was greasy, while one of our desserts we simply had to leave without touching. The other dishes were fine, but it's not enough.

Stopped because it seemed full of locals. On the way to our table I saw incredible cheeseburgers that looked to be 3/4 pounders with large servings of frittes. Their specialty was a baking dish filled with various combinations of potatoes , cheese, sausage, chicken etc. and was easily enough for 2.On the other side some locals were enjoyed ribs also served with frittes. We had the chèvre salad that included a healthy portion of goat cheese as well as boiled eggs, and candied walnuts. Local wine by the glass was very good.

The place was packed when we arrived and had a really good buzz about it. Standing room only and we wanted to eat so when we saw a couple leaving we sat down at their uncleared table. 10 minutes later we finally caught the eye of one of the staff who proceeded to lecture us on ‘restaurant’ etiquette and how we should wait to to be told we can sit down (seriously this is a pub that serves food, it’s not a formal restaurant setup) We found it initially amusing but less so when a second waiter came to repeat the lecture 5 minutes later and even less so when we waited 15 minutes at the end after asking for our bill before it came. Great place for a pint (the bar staff were lovely) but wouldn’t recommend eating. The food itself was ok, nothing to write home about and certainly not enough to warrant the rude arrogance of the staff

L'Estaminet

We could see the picturesque balcony of this restaurant from our Airbnb and knew we wanted to eat there. Only on finding the front of the restaurant, and seeing how busy it was, did we realise that the balcony seems to be a hidden gem that we wouldn't have received had we not known to ask. It only has room for maybe six tables, which give the most beautiful views of the canal at night. The railings between tables and the water have quite large gaps though, so mind your phone/valuables! We ordered two tartiflettes and a glass of wine, which came to 36 euros - a bargain we thought given the atmosphere and the portion sizes (which came with a generous basket of bread and side salads with cured ham). The food was delicious as well, plus the service was quick and friendly. Definitely one of our favourite restaurants we visited on our trip.
