This is an excellent place to have great food at good prices. We had the ribeye special and the Portobello mushroom cap. Both were excellent and absolutely worth a trip back!

Some vegetarian selections, tries to use locally grown/produced or sustainable ingredients. In the heart of Southern Illinois wine country.
Cobden, Illinois, a small town of 1,135 people located in Union County in southern Illinois, is noted for its fertile orchards that produce apples, peaches and other fruits. It is in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest and surrounded by Giant City State Park, Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. It is at the center of the Shawnee Wine Trail, which features 12 local wineries. But Cobden's greatest claim to fame is and always will be the high school basketball team that finished second in the 1964 state tournament. The Appleknockers, representing the second smallest school ever to reach the state final, emerged as the darlings of Illinois. No local vineyard will ever surpass what they accomplished. But Jennifer Buchbeit is trying. She opened Yellow Moon Cafe at 110 North Front Street in Cobden in 2008 and has been making a reputation ever since. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts and marketing from Columbia College in Chicago, then interned at exclusive Medinah Country Club in suburban Chicago before opening her dream cafe almost 10 years ago. Lunch is a popular occasion in this tiny hamlet, drawing visitors from Anna, Jonesboro, Carbondale and Marion, even Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Paducah, Kentucky. The last time I visited Cobden was in 2002, when I was doing research for my first book on high school basketball in Illinois. The new gym was being built and the huge picture of the 1964 team was being stored in the administration office. Unfortunately, Jennifer Buchbeit is too young to remember the 1964 team. Too bad. But today's generation remembers her cooking, especially the cakes, scones, cookies, pastries and brownies she makes daily. The lunch menu also includes Caesar salad, spinach salad, pastrami Reuben sandwich, tuna cheddar melt sandwich, soups, Mediterranean flatbread, roast beef, ham and cheese and spiced Turkey. Medinah Country Club was never like this.

They go above and beyond at this DQ. They are speedy and efficient. Their food is great and they are always friendly. When we go through the drive through, we even get ice cream for our dog, and they are kind to our dog. They are our favorite fast food restaurant in town because of their service and their food.

They had BBQ as well as other items on the menu. The food we got was good, onion rings were perfect. I would recommend going here if in the area.

Very nice place for a 'Good' cup of coffee and relax. Friendly and comfortable coffee house. Includes free Wi-Fi that works! They also serve muffins and cookies.
If you are out of town folks, call to confirm they are open. Small towns close up early especially on Sundays.

Wonderful full flavor Mexican food. It just tastes very good. Simple authentic food. They run out of items each day. You know it's fresh when they are only making small batches. No heavy sauces or anything covered in cheese. Some of the best tamales I have ever eaten. The town is in the heart of Southern Illinois. Wonderful, polite people. Orchards, wineries and small locally owned shops everywhere. Small eating area inside. But you really want to sit outside at the picnic tables and enjoy your visit.

Southern comfort cooking. Serving breakfast and lunch daily.
Open Tuesday-Sunday 6 a.m - 1 p.m
Closed on Mondays.
Right next door to JR's at the southeast corner of the roundabout in Jonesboro, IL. Open Tues-Sat 6 a.m.-1 p.m. May be closed Tuesdays during the winter. General breakfast assortment with some willingness to try some different items such as a breakfast burrito and an Italian beef sandwich. Pancakes were excellent, but grits watery.

Had lunch here today, and it's better than eating at any fast food place in town. Good burger, and a delicious bun. Fast and friendly service. Give these people your business instead of the chains.

I am from Anna, Illinois. I grew up eating this pizza every Friday night. My friends and I would enjoy a large supreme, slightly burned crust, with a dusty floured bottom from the oven. Pepsi was the soda of choice. There used to be video games in the back. We were Pizza Villa junkies. When we got older, we enjoyed the pizza after a Friday night football game. I can't even explain how much I crave this pizza...

1st visit on Saturday for a 618 Jeep Run. The people from Blue Boar were super accommodating for the number of Jerome in attendance. The food was hot and delicious. The hall they catered for us was top notch and reasonably priced. We were so impressed that we decided to try the restaurant the next day for lunch since we were in the area. The landscaping and decor were great they had outdoor seating with waterfall view. The chicken and ribs were great and the sides were awesome as well. We will be back and recommend anyone in the area to give them a try!! Thanks again for a great weekend!!
