Well located hotel (very near the train station). Nice big room with very firm mattresses (almost like sleeping in hanok accommodation for firmness). Lots of amenities in the room - we liked having the use of the computer. There was a slightly perfunctory welcome at reception. The room was a reasonable price and near to bars and restaurants.

Bukchondaek is a Korea traditional house has a history of 220 years. Greatest Traditional house in Hahoe Village. A place that is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The original form has been preserved. It's a South Korea's important folklore data No. 84. We have Three wooden buildings. They are all sedentary rooms. Floor-heated by the traditional method of firewood under the house. Bathrooms placed an outhouse. They are modernized.
As you know, the curate's egg means that something is good in places, not so in others. I found myself agreeing with the last English review from Oct 2015. Overall, Bukchondaek needs an 'outsider's touch', by which I mean a new and fresh eye to detail and the offering. First up, the Hahoe village is outstanding and well worth a visit. The buildings and scale are impressive and the setting besides a looping river and cliffs is magnificent. But you need to be aware that you cannot bring your car in until after 6pm - a piece of information that we were not initially told. Watch out in the dark, as the laneways are very narrow and you cannot park more than two cars besides the front gate. We decided to leave our cars in a larger bus parking area by the public rest rooms. Your host is very pleasant and friendly and will provide you with a wonderful tour of the house and answer any questions you have. You really do have a feeling of staying in a unique property. That said it was too expensive. $600 AUD+ for one 'apartment' is unrealistic. Our room was bare and the side unit for our son was unadorned. We found the futons on the floor to require an additional comforting layer. There was a/c, which was welcome on a warm evening, though it would have been nice if the small fridge had been plugged in (why would it be left unplugged?). The bathroom complex is shared and somewhat tight on space, but this is unavoidable given the nature of the property. If you need to visit during the wee small hours, then be warned that you have to cross the courtyard. You need to wear slippers everywhere so as not to damage the floor, but the ones provided are too small for size 10 up. Breakfast is at 8:30am and is traditional Korean, with lots of choice. We drink coffee at breakfast and were surprised that none was offered. That is okay for us, but seems out-of-kilter with what many folk would wish. Our main issue is that construction started just past 7:00am on the building of new accommodation. This surprised us, both for the noise and for the mis-match of traditional accommodation meets jackhammer in a UNESCO site. It did make me feel that the cost was too high in this regard. Overall, this is a unique property that would benefit from some fresh eyes to thinking how Bukchondaek can continue to marry tradition with the needs of today's travellers.

This is a really great place to escape from all your troubles. I like the traditional setting. They have an online and offline reading section in the resort. They also have accomodations for overnight stays. This is indeed a great place to escape to. Although the transportation is a little tricky. I had to take two bus transfers from the bus terminal and a taxi to get to the location. Be prepared to wait for long intervals to access the buses. Great place indeed.

We stayed here for 3 nights in order to go to Haoho village and see the begining of the Andong Mask festival and for the price we paid were very happy. Hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the Andong railway station so no taxi needed. We were checked in with the most warm welcome ever although our Korean and his English was lacking. Given a map of the area where all needed bus routes were clearly marked. Very friendly front of house. Hotel is quite old and very traditional. We took a standard double room on the 3rd floor . Lift access. Room was clean and although everything was there, TV, kettle, fridge, complimentary water, in room WiFi aircon and double glazing room was however a bit basic. We had a small sitting area but little storage space. Matress was so hard making this our only issue. Bathroom was Ok, we had a shower, good supply of towels. We had little outside noise however on one evening we could hear the children from a family upstairs running around. This did not spoil our sleep. We had breakfast outside the hotel each morning. Odd numbering of the floors above our floor (floor 3) was floor 5. Location is good very walkable into the town, 5-20 minutes to a good choice of eating places, cafes and restaurants with numberof 7-33s close by.Great coffee place just past Starbucks in town. Not sure that this is the best hotel in town however it represents good value for money and the guy front of house is really approachable.

Stayed at this guesthouse for 2 nights while in Andong. Basically the stay was a pit stop from Seoul to Gyeongju and thought it'd be a good idea to check out the Hahoe village and some of the temples in Andong. this guesthouse is about 800m away from the bus terminal and there is no way to get there from the bus terminal except walking. So if you've got a big and heavy suitcase you won't be finding a taxi to take ya there from the bus terminal as it is too short of a distance. if you are going from the train station in town then you are looking at a fare between 6,000 won to 9,000 won (roughly US$5 - 8). If you have a car then it'd be no problem at all. Otherwise, the only way to get to town directly from the guesthouse is by taxi or you can walk to the bus terminal (800M) and take the bus. The guesthouse itself is a themed cafe with lot of books as you can see in the pictures provided by the owner. Pretty descent coffee and guests get a 20% discount. Breakfast is simple but sufficient. cereal, toast, boiled eggs, fruit, and OJ and is served between 8-9am. There's a 7-11 (convenient store) and one restaurant nearby (near the bus terminal) and there's a fast food joint inside the terminal. apart from that there's no other places to eat and the guesthouse does not serve meal. However, it does sell cup noodles and rice. or you can do like I did, get the yummy microwave meals from the 7-11 and bring them to the guesthouse. The staff there were happy to keep it in the fridge for me and then heated it up at the meal time. Staff were very friendly and willing to help. I stayed in the double room and it is quite small and basic, but hey I wasn't planning to stay in my room for long anyway so it's good enough. The charm of this guesthouse is rather what's outside the room in the common area. lovely set up and homey it gives you the feeling of a home. It also has a laundry room that guests can use. All in all, if you are looking for a place very close to the action and in the town centre and with room service and house keep then you should look elsewhere. but if you are looking for a place with a personality to stay and don't mind the travel then this is a lovely choice for you. By the way, if you are like me, planning to use the local bus to go to the Hahoe village and the temples. then this is also a good place to stay as both buses stop at the bus terminal nearby.

Andong CM Park Hotel is located about 20 km west of central Andong in the new part of town built around the provincial office. Because of its western location, it might not be the most convenient base but it’s definitely one of the newer hotels in the city. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. It’s close to the Hahoe Village which is arguably Andong’s top sight. I actually preferred the spacious part of town to the busy central Andong. Only issue was that they charged us twice for the room which was annoying to deal with.

CY ( 20.10.23 ) There was located in central area in Andong, I didn't check hotel review, so I was failed to choose hotel. I chose this hotel, the named "hotel" and price, and I believed there was hotel. But there was just motel with motel price. I didn't understand why I pay more price thought online booking about 15%. So I asked staff why more expensive? The answer was simple, because of online booking fee. I think I was fooled. In this mood, I felt terrible on my Andong trip. If there introduced "Motel" and same price online and offline, there was above normal reputation. But this two point made me there terrible hotel.

What a gem in the highlands of Korea. We left Seoul, to drive down to Busan and decided to drive through the countryside, and wanting to stay at a traditional Korean place. We arrived late at night by the owner, who spoke perfect English, to welcome us to his family’s home. The temple/homestead was built in 1588 and been in the same family, passed down, ever since. This “hotel” with only 3 rooms, all the traditional Hanok style of sleeping on the floor with a traditional breakfast, was amazing. The room was sooo clean, heated floor along with a reverse cycle air conditioner and a very modern, newly renovated and clean bathroom. It has string unlimited free Wi-Fi throughout the place. This Australian, used to 5 star places, was expecting this to be the worse night sleep out of my whole korean trip, it was actually one of the best. It was sooo quiet during the night, the bed was comfy and room temperature I changed to suit what u wanted to have s great night sleep. In the morning, I had an excellent hot shower with all the amenities, excellent water pressure and very clean. It was like new! Finally breakfast was freshly made and a combination of a traditional Korean breakfast and beautiful view out over the river. The quietness at night and during the day, made this the perfect place to relax and enjoy the culture and nature. Highly recommend. 5⭐️

We stayed for a couple of nights in the Pension room. Which means sleeping in the floor with traditional mats. Other than not what we are use too we had a good stay. The couple who run the motel are just lovely. Speak no English but are incredibly helpful. Breakfast is simple but enough. The eggs she cooks are amazing. We would stay again
