You must visit this bar if you are planning a trip to Amboise.
The location is brilliant although some might it difficult to find and the view from the bar of both the river and the grand chateau unsurpassed.
You are handed the menu which is in effect a large book containing the most comprehensive list of cocktails we had ever seen.
We ordered two classic Margaritas which were delivered promptly by the very efficient and friendly team of guys running the show.
The drinks were great with a good kick and a nice balance between the lime and triple sec.
I was surprised by the speed at which the barman was able to despatch these fresh drinks in an eclectic range of glasses that seemed to compliment the cocktail.
The food and snacks also looked looked good.
Don't miss it !!!!

We had a dinner custom made for us as vegetarians (with advance notice of a few hours) that was the best meal of our trip so far.
Gazpacho amuse-bouche, Mushroom soup, Vegetable plate that was exquisite, Cheese plate, desserts.
We left wondering if we could ever eat again; it was so good and filling.

Cuisine maison á base produits frais issus de producteurs locaux grillades au feu de bois.
Our hotel recommended this restaurant and made Reservations for us. The recommendation was spot on. Reservations are a must, at least in June. Service was excellent especially given the fact that all tables were full. A wonderful atmosphere. The only minor negative is that there is no English menu but our waiter spoke excellent English and was able to translate and explain everything on the menu. Highly recommended - see photos attached for food excellently prepared and presented.
Thanks for Reading. If you've found this helpful I'll appreciate a thumbs up below.

We were back in Amboise with the same friends we holidayed with in May 2016; having had a fabulous meal then, we chose Le 36 again whilst staying very nearby.
It is a traditional and comfortable hotel restaurant serving high quality French food with the minimum of fuss. We enjoyed relaxing in the bar pre meal and once seated, we took the 4 course option with the excellent Cheeseboard, accompanied by some decent (if expensive) wine. Focussing on the fish dishes, the monkfish tails were outstanding but the turbot less memorable. The entree and dessert options were good, well presented and tasty without being special.
Overall, we enjoyed the meal and ambience but noted that it perhaps did not reach the same heights as the last visit. Nevertheless recommended as a pricey but otherwise fine dining experience.

We went here for morning coffee, and had good Seating outside but rather squashed in. We just ordered coffee and were eventually served by an unfriendly, unsmiling waitress. Our coffee consisted of one cafetiere between two, of very average coffee which cost us 15 Euros. Maybe we would have been treated better if we had ordered food, but I think we would have had to take out a mortgage to do so.

A class above in terms of all restaurants we have tried recently, not just in the loire.
Ticks off all of the right boxes in terms of ambiance, service and the prix fix was very very good.
I wish they would do a wine pairing menu for each course, but it did not detract.
Worth the drive if anywhere close.

On our first evening in Amboise we had not made any plans for dinner. We did a little research and chose Chez Bruno. When we arrived, almost all of the outside Seating was empty and there were only a few people eating inside. But we were asked if we had a reservation. After a bit of looking around and checking the reservation list, we were given a seat inside. And sure enough, within 30 minutes ALL of the tables outside were full and there were no tables inside. People were being turned away at the door if they didn't have a reservation. So be forewarned, we found that in general it is very important to make a reservation for dinner in France. No matter how casual or popular/crowded/uncrowded the place might seem --call ahead and make the reservation!
That being said, the place has a lively atmosphere and is very casual. Most of the people around us seemed to be locals. The food was really delicious (I had duck) and simply prepared and served. Our waitress was very friendly about our butchered, but well meaning attempt a French and she gave prompt service. The restaurant also faces the Chateau and it is great for people watching. The prices were very reasonable and I would highly recommend a meal here if you are looking for more simplistic French food.

One of the better meals I've had on this two-week France trip. Pretty pricy. Think they have a Michelin star so maybe that's why but everything was great. We actually hurried them along because we hate three hour meals but they were friendly and ok with that. The foie gras was great and the dessert I had (I think it translated into crackly strawberry or something like that) was one of the best I've ever had. Friendly, unpretentious service too.

In a heavy August downpour, we took refuge in this charming restaurant which specializes in crepes, cocottes, and grills. My colleague enjoyed a grillade of beef sur pierrade, which he pronounced excellent; my own cocotte was less convincing. Together with two coffees and a carafe of Chinon the total of 42€ was reasonable. Good service and pleasant atmosphere.
In the evenings, out of the summer season, there are jazz Concerts, when it will be essential to book since the restaurant is quite small.

Booked here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was my wife's birthday.
This is a top restaurant.
Service was excellent, sommelier was very knowledgeable and his advices were exactly what we needed. The food was otherworldly. 4 days later I can still recall the texture and taste of each dish.
They were re-Interpretation of classic French dishes with small twists to make the taste adventurous and interesting.
The quality of the ingredients were top.
I was surprised it didn't have a 1 Michelin star.
It was a wonderful dinner and i would recommend this restaurant extremely highly.
