We happened upon this restaurant before, so thought we'd have dinner here again. I had breakfast, which was done right and tasty. He had the senior meatloaf. It was still a big serving and he thought it was very good. Service was good, also.

Antonio's is a casual Italian restaurant that has been serving the small rural community of Alturas, CA since April of 1989. Antonio's features hand thrown pizzas and a variety of pasta dishes as well as steak, salads, and even char grilled burgers.
They said it would be delivered in 45 minutes it was! They said it would be full of meat it was! This was such a delightful pizza and the fact that they delivered was a massive bonus - we had cycled all day and were starving and our legs needed a rest! Definitely recommend the pizza!

We were returning to Central from our Road Trip to Reno just happened to stop at Harold's Frosty for lunch...Wow that was so lucky!!! The burgers were absolutely the best and the fries were amazing! We will definitely make it a point to eat at Harold's on our next road trip, both going to and returning from Reno!! Awesome!!

I ordered my favorite, Chile Verdi. It was too liquidy, almost like a soup. It also lacked a particular flavor to give it good taste. That flavor can only be imparted to the sauce by cooking a small amount of fat into the recipe. The cubed pork was all lean without a bit of fat. A thicker sauce, and few pieces of pork with some fat attached would have made all the difference in the world.
The restaurant itself is clean, well decorated, and the service was excellent. However, I'm giving an objective rating for what I ate, I would rate the Chili Verdi as two stars, and the service as four stars. The average is three stars. Maybe I'll try eating something different the next time I pass through that town.

This is an Real auction yard with a cafe up front. The very best breakfast I have ever had
Great breakfast. Mom in the kitchen, daughter serving, and the kids in Little League uniforms chowing down pancakes at the counter. Truly a locals stop and I now see why. Great friendly service, good food and generous portions. What's not to like? There was no sign when we were there but just go to the M odoc Auction Yard (red building ) on Hwy 299; the cafe is at the west end of the building. Enjoy.

This is an outdoor sandwich shop - walk-up, order window, picnic tables. For that reason it may be seasonal. It's right on the main road through town. The service was friendly and the burgers were very good. The prices were reasonable - about $15.00 for two adults with burgers, fries and drinks. The dining area was clean.
Don't forget, NO FRIES WITH THE $7.95 BURGERS!
So, I had a fish taco. It appeared to be two small fish nuggets wrapped in a soft shell taco with lettuce, etc. Surprise! This didn't come with fries either, and it still cost me around 7 bucks.

The Lazy B Grill is a casual eatery serving quality breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, ice cream and $ .99 Root Beer floats . There are daily specials and affordable eating for the whole family with a great atmosphere to sit and enjoy and visit with the locals.
Passing through Alturas last week, we stopped here for dinner. Classic drive in restaurant with great food and atmosphere. We had burgers, chicken, shakes, etc - everything was perfect. We sat outside, chatted with the locals, and people watched. When we were there it was...MoreThank you for taking the time to post your review. So glad you were pleased with your visit here. We do have some awesome locals around and they tell some great stories. Hope you will visit again on your next trip through...

This meat-centric restaurant also provides choices for vegetarians; and, based on our one dinner here, I feel confident in saying it is absolutely wonderful. Who would think a restaurant of this quality could be found in this nearly off-the-map corner of Northern California, but there it is! With beautifully atmospheric brick walls (original to the 107 year old hotel in which it resides), vintage and new stained glass, and a service to match fine restaurants of any metropolitan area, we enjoyed a totally satisfying and memorable meal here.

We were very impressed with the freshness of the food, especially the spring rolls, and the curries had just the right amount of heat for an American pallet. The menu is a work in progress, so not everything was available, but that just means more really good things to come. The restaurant is housed in an old drive-in location and doesn't look like much, but don't let that deter you. This is a great little spot offering some nice variety to eating out in Alturas.

We made it a point to stop here on a Sunday at noon to try Basque food. The Basque part of the restaurant, but all that is open for lunch is the pub. The details shown for this restaurant is misleading. We walked in and said hello to the bartender who also serves food at the table, but never got a response. We were hurried through lunch which was very average pub food. He did warm up to my family after we asked a few polite questions. Next trip we would choose another restaurant in town.
