Our car broke down as we were returning from Matera after midnight. A passerby notified the hotel miles away. The hotel van appeared and the driver arranged for a tow truck to a reliable garage and transported us to the hotel. The next day the hotel extended our checkout time and their van took us to our repaired car. Service like this is rare.

In the heart of the historic center of Altamura opens Il Claustro. Il Claustro stems from the propensity to ' hospitality , value strongly felt by the family who likes to " make people feel at home with friends " their guests. The Claustro carries with it the image and tradition of our country, Altamura. A small town by the fervent history that has always stood out for strength and resourcefulness of its people. Typically organized and divided into cloisters , the population has learned to associate and to build together, to share, to grow, to enhance its own peculiarities . The cloisters are the primary evidence of association : the aim is to squares which open in the streets of the old town. Each cloister has a name and an interesting story to find out : there are almost eighty . Are squares with no output , used historically in times of invasion, as a form strategic defensive : the invaders were " closed " and attacked. Il Claustro is located in the central area of Altamura , coming out after a few steps you can reach the heart of the country : the majestic Piazza Duomo , the unique course Ferderico II of Swabia and the lovely Church of Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral) .
Vittoria's extremely welcoming b&b hosted us (7 p.) during a 7d bicycle trip in Apulia: beautiful theme rooms with distinct local flavour (each different) & private entrance from the small "cloister". Home made breakfast was delicious! (when you don't miss a buffet) I would have loved to stay longer. Thank you Vittoria for having us, I am looking forward to see you next time soon!

The building Located in a building dating back to 1583 , in the historic center of Altamura, the B & B del Duomo has a strategic and incomparable location for those people who want to stay a few steps from the Cathedral . Our B & B has 6 guest rooms , divided on 2 different floors , connected both by stairs and by elevator, a central living room where breakfast is served , a large kitchen , and a terrace that offers an amazing and view of the Cathedral. The rooms We have a total of six rooms for our guests. In one of them there's the possibility to separate beds on request ,in order to have two single beds instead of a queen size bed; three are equipped with a queen size bed; the two suites consist of the bedroom and of a living room in front of the bedroom, in which there is a comfortable sofa-bed that can be easily transformed in a extra bed, in order to allow the accomodation of extra guests, up to a maximum of two additional guests. All rooms have their own bathroom and are provided with free wi-fi , a full hd tv, and they all have a desk on which our guests can place their personal computers . Parking Like all structures of the historic center , being located in a restricted traffic area , the B & B del Duomo does not have its own parking, but this does not appear to be a problem since a few steps from the property, less than 50 meters, is located the large public car park in Piazza Matteotti, also known as Castle Square (Piazza Castello), where guests can easily park their car
Return trip, as always a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The building is amazing and so clean. View from the rooftop is fantastic. Nunzio is the perfect host. We were fortunate to be there on festival night. What an experience?! Great cafes restaurants and bars nearby. Nunzio is happy help.

We were two pairs in this location. For the price we paid, 57 EURO / night, we had expectations accordingly. We enjoyed the great help we received from the owners about the area, how to get to some places of interest in Puglia, and of course we enjoyed the cleanliness of the rooms, the beautiful surroundings, the courtyard of the place and the modest but satisfying breakfast

Located in the middle of the old town of Altamura in the greek area called " claustrum greco" the structure has a total of 24 rooms divided in standard, junior suite and 1 apartment plus a 3-4 bedrooms economy room. The structure has been realized by restoring one of the oldest palace in town and dated 1741. How to reach our hotel: once in Altamura put on your GPS the adress "via castello", then just follow the black and yellow panels along the streets reporting our name.Once in front of the hotel we'll take care of your car for free. Please do not put the adress via Cagnazzi in the gps cause the area was not reported well by google
I wanted to like the Hotel San Nicola, an old hotel and possible former mini-villa located in the core historic center of Altamura that offers free parking. First, the service is mediocre. We arrived early, our bags were stored in an open side room for the entire day. We returned late afternoon to find our bags still out in the open and not in our rooms. We went to our room which was large with a painted ceiling. The bathroom was nearly as large as the bedroom. The common area hallways and stairs are covered with old wall-to-wall carpeting. Breakfast was mediocre with little service. The price for the room was 79 Euros. It is overpriced given what you do and don't receive. A fairer price would be 40 Euros. Would I stay here again? No. Would I recommend it to others? No.

We went to Altamura to visit the place where my grandparents were born - and found a home at B&B del Corso. Francesco and his family made us feel like family -- even helping us get around the city and surrounding sights. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. We had breakfast (included) at local cafes. The location is incredible -- right in the heart of the old city near the cathedral. If you are coming to Altamura, this is a wonderful place to stay.

It was lovely to chat with our hosts,Angelo, Paula and Laura. They are such kind and welcoming people. Accommodation is on the good position, clean and updated. Bed wasn't the most comfy but ok for two nights. Breakfast was generous. Mind you, still tipical Italian with lot's of sugary products. There were cakes, juices, fruit yougurt but not natural, good coffe, teas, local bread, jam and butter. Grazie Angelo, Paula and specialy to Laura for nice stay.
