Wonderful Hotel
Reviewed By Jonathan TWe stayed at Au Lion dOr for 5 nights and had one of our best holidays. The location is ideal for enjoying the walks in the forests around la Petite-Pierre or the attractions in Strasbourg, Metz, etc. Our room faced the forests - just stunning - and had a balcony. It was well appointed and clean, with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. The hotel has a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna complex that we used and enjoyed - so useful after our long walks! The real star of the hotel is the restaurant. The food is of a very high standard - some of the best we have experienced. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. We will return.

Nice location but that's it
Reviewed By Titia MNice location but that is it. Diner is at 19.00 and at 20.00 hours and if you want something to drink between 18.00 and 18.45 you better bring it yourself since all personnel eats then. A course with cheese contains one piece of brie and that is it. Breakfast contains mini croissants, mini chocolate bread and baquette which jou can cut yourself.

Two nights in the most beautiful environment of Europe

The hotel looks romantic and would have been if not too many things went wrong. We did not mind in the beginning that the WiFi ,fridge nor airconditioning did not work... not even that the window and garden part was not cleaned for months! But when we also ate one of the worst dinners ... it all became to much.. we ordered the menu of the house . Salad was good , main dish (specialty in the Alsace was awful and tasteless but the desert won the price of the worst .. a cake like beton and even the ice was tasteless Believe us ... we can have a lot but this was too much and influenced our stay in this beautiful part of France . The service was very friendly but the waiter nor receptionist did do something (like a coffee included) to make us feel a bit better

The entire property is SUPER clean and well-manicured (the cleanest hotel or B&B I've ever stayed in), Anthony is very attentive and accommodating, and you CANNOT BEAT the stunning views and serenity of the property. Minibar is restocked everyday, fresh towels are provided daily, and the full-spread breakfast is awesome. I have zero idea how this B&B is #2 in Obernai...should easily be #1. 11 out of 10.

What a view, what peace
Reviewed By WimvdMeerA remarkable place, high above the Munster valley, with a magnificent view of the town, the hills and the lowlands in the distance. To get there is a narrow winding road of a few kilometres from Munster. We had room nr 8, which is very comfortable and spacious, and it also has a balcony. The drive down to Munster is not far (though slow, because of the reasons mentioned above), so you can go there for meals, drinks and shopping (careful with alcohol on that road though). However, having dinner at the Auberge is an excellent option, the menu is small but very good, the food itself also.

"The chef decides" and that is wrong!

Excellent terrace and spectacular views across the Rhine valley to the Black Forest. I had booked on a half board basis - very common in France of course. However when I asked for the "inclusive" menu, was told that there is no menu or choice of food and only one dish that the chef decides to offer. That night it was sauerkraut - a common enough main course in Alsace and Germany and often an accompanying vegetable with other meals. Not exactly my cup of tea as it were. So had to go to the main a la carte menu. OK ish. Next night I ate elsewhere. This was the first time in over 45 years travelling in France, frequently booking "demi pension", that I found no choice of dish. The chef's attitude removed a significant part of enjoying my 15th stay in Alsace. First and last stay in this place.

Beautiful accommodations...very clean and interesting decor. The house/hotel has an interesting history and it is a very short drive to Colmar! The owner Bertram was a wonderful host. Thank you for your suggestions. We will be back!
