This company kept your deposit although we cancelled within the correct period due to Covid. I would advise anyone not to trust this hotel! It was for a charity cycle holiday - dreadful! We have contacted the hotel many times but they are rude and unhelpful

We loved it! Such a nice location, friendly staff and goreous food. We went with our 2,5 month old baby which was very exciting, but the staff was so good to us. Gave us a travel cott and made sure everything was ok. You can hear alot though, from the other rooms, outside and downstairs. But then again it is an old historical building!! The food is absolutely fabulous, really fresh and high quality. Not to mention an amazing breakfast! Would definitely go again.

We really enjoy going to Alkmaar and as I mentioned on our last stay here the room is all very nice all high quality fixtures and fittings and the dark green decoration makes it so warming and welcoming. Super meal again in the Hoffman restaurant downstairs .

We have different rooms for two to four persons.
We booked the apartment on the ground floor. The double bed in the apartment is awful. It is more like a bunk bed for kids, only the bottom bunk is a bit wider. It was uncomfortably short for me (metal bars at the feet), but it was unbearable for my partner, who is a tall man. We had to take the mattresses from the beds and sleep on the living room floor. Also, I called to the place on the day of arrival asking if it would be possible to check in later that 7pm (we were traveling by car from Belgium and there were many traffic jams) . The woman at the reception just said "NO". So...we had to really hurry (no dinner or bathroom breaks on the way) as otherwise we would have had nowhere to sleep. Seemed like the woman lived right next to the place though.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Hotel Alkmaer on our trip of the Nederland’s. First thing you must know, if you are physically challenged do not book this hotel. The rooms are accessed from a very steep narrow winding stairwell. My wife had purchased half of Holland and put it in her suitcase that I had to schlep up those stairs. Best recommended for light travelers. Our room was small but very well equipped; the hotel had a refrigerator in the room that actually was cold enough to make ice. That was very appreciated. Breakfast was continental with no hot food except for hard boiled eggs, not a problem though as it was more than enough to carry us till late afternoon. My wife commented that they had the best cheese she had tasted on our travels. Not all is rosy at the hotel. The beds were the softest with the weakest box spring of all the beds we had experienced of the seven hotels we stayed at on this vacation. I almost fell off the bed a few times. And if the bed was soft the pillows were concrete. It made for a very uncomfortable sleep. The hotel has parking available with pre-booked reservations for 14,50 euro per night. I would recommend not taking this option and park at the four level public parking just across the street. The first night cost us 6,50 euro and the second cost 4,50 euro. A little expensive for 100 euro a night. One other thing that is a bit odd, the hotel is split between two olds houses with an old warehouse that has been turned into flats in between. You check in at the small restaurant at one end of the buildings and some of the rooms are above the private restaurant at the other end of the block. I hope this review is helpful.

As we can't travel abroad at the moment we decided to have some weekends away in the Netherlands! We are spending this weekend in beautiful Alkmaar. We stayed at Macbed B&B. The host, Sacha, is a lovely friendly lady and our room was very comfortable. The only negative point is that the toilet/shower is one flight of stairs below so, for people who have to get up in the night, it's not so handy. Apart from that we had a lovely stay.
