This Truck Stop Cafe at the intersection of Highways 169 and 18 at Algona Iowa. It is a popular place for truckers passing through as well as for locals.
The food is tasty, with sizeable portions and good prices. Because it is a truck stop, the decor is very basic, but staff is friendly and attentive.

As I walked into The Chocolate Season," I went immediately to my "Happy Place." Music played subtly in the background. The space was airy, with high ceilings, and the decor was early 20th century. Adjoining the candy shop was a lovely floral shop. The aromas of flowers and chocolates filled the air. My senses came alive. Before me was a case filled with homemade chocolates. I stepped to the old fashioned counter to order a latte and chocolates. As I did, I noticed a window to the candy making area. What a delight to watch the candy being made. After ordering my latte, I selected my chocolates. The very friendly hostess described each of the unique chocolates to me. With so many choices, it was difficult to decide. Each chocolate was so lovely. The young woman then wrapped my candies in a beautiful box. My husband and I sipped our coffee and enjoyed the chocolates, which were as delicious as they were lovely. They were so good, we bought another box of six to go. Can you see why I was in my "Happy Place"? It was a walk back in time to a gentler, quieter, simpler era, when attention to detail mattered. Add to that - coffee and chocolates. And I was HAPPY! HAPPY! HAPPY!

I have memories of coming to this DQ when I was a kid 40 years ago. Still a great place to grab a vanilla cone. Yum!

Great food? Yes!!!! I had the Chicken Little with their delectable tomato basil soup and a seasonal Fireside Mocha to wash it down. Absolutely a delightful lunch experience! Baristas were very friendly and the atmosphere is unique and comfortable. Put this in your list of lunch stops when in Algona!

We stopped on way through town. Nice service, clean, wide variety on menu but everything we ordered seemed to come from a previous frozen packaged type. Pork tenderloin from a package as an example. Middle of the greatest pork producing area of the world...and you get a frozen prepackaged one. French fries frin a package...Come on guys...you can do better. I know it's easier but the quality just not there to impress me. The place has a great location, love the windows over river, people nice, but lose the freezer and make fresh.

We visited Pizza Ranch for the first time and let me tell you it was good. We had the buffet and it was all you can eat pizza, soup and fried chicken. Plus they had mashed potatoes and green beans and the chicken was awesome. Nothing fancy but good food at good prices. We will be back.

Outstanding Chinese Cuisine. Top notch menu with many selections. Lunch is a great value with Soup, Egg Roll or Crab Rangoon and Entree for under $10.00. Evening menu includes great dinner for two including two entrees and all the trimmings.

Small town place as I was heading south, passing through in this small town called Algona Iowa. Friends of mine asked me to pack a meal from the dinner menu, so I did and I chose the Shredded beef and
(Added an extra one the chicken) bean classic Chimichanga comes with very tasty, tender spicy (mildly) shredded beef, fresh veggies, served with Spanish rice, refried beans, crisp, fresh lettuce, tomato and dollop of sour cream. I also ordered a shredded chicken one as well.
Smothered with a delicious sauce and shredded cheese. All this is placed on a flour taco, backed for a bit of time to melt the cheese, and probably used to prevent your chimichanga from burning. Let me tell you, I live in south Texas and this was really really good. I finished everything and loved it. My friends had Chicken rings, fries and the other Ensalada Grande. No one left anything on their plate but we did have left over appetizers.
As this was my first time, I loved it. My friends order delivery from here all the time. Thanks for a good experience for my first time...Always a good thing right? CHEERS!
