We visited Kalu several times last year and were looking forward to eating there again. Whilst we still like the laid back beach style, the atmosphere seemed to lack character and the food was nowhere near as good. The cheese in my goats cheese salad was very disappointing - it seemed to be slices of a processed cream cheese, rather than the grilled, crumbly type I was expecting. The staff were clearly working hard and I really hop Kalu gets its mojo back soon.

Group of 35 ate here. Excellent service by the staff and chef. Excellent choices catering for vegan. Plentiful and a high standard. Endless supply of wine. Very attentive. Definitely the best cocktails in Carvoeiro both in terms of quality (they certainly don't skimp on alcohol) and costs are very good, particularly in comparison to other places Becky & Matt are a lovely couple who make so much effort with all their customers. A huge choice of cocktails on the menu, but if there isn't your choice, they'll make it for you, no matter how obscure! Nice décor, great music and family friendly too. Kool Cocktails played a huge part in making our holiday such a fantastic one and thanks to Matt & Becky for some great nights! We will be back again soon :)Thanks for your lovely review!! Visited this evening after previously walking past as it doesnât seem that âposhâ for dinner. However with children it was perfect lovely setting, lovely wine. Food fish Captaplana (maybe wrong spelling) traditional dish was lovely. Kids has dinner and ice creams, very relaxed and so were we as it was family friendly. Well worth a visit for families and couples, good local food, produce, wine and atmosphere.Would definitely return for coffee, lunch or dinner
