We were fleeing from the multitude of tourists from Sagres and found this cozy restaurant in a town with little charm. However it was a success. Fresh fish and exquisite meat at a very reasonable price. The service was lovely. A highly recommended restaurant

Very slow slow slow forgotten about slow service.....Arrived here after a hot beach....place looked nice thought we would have a nice drink and something to eat!!!! 10 tables outside 3 were occupied, of which 2 were coming to end of their meal and paying. We Sat down so then only 2 tables. Although waiter came out couldn't get his attention my partner went in search, found a girl waitress who took our drinks order and gave us menus. Drinks arrived and waited waited waited for waiter to take our food order, but we decided to give up as thought it was a bad idea given service so far. Finally waiter arrived and my partner asked for a beer...and guess what it never arrived!!!! My partner had to search again and found the girl waiter and got his beer.Felt that the male waiter, couldn't give a ****, whilst the girl waiter who seemed to work the bar was lovely. What a shame as we were looking to having a relaxing time and was until we experienced this restaurant.

We stumbled across this place today. The decor was quirky and charming. I have just read some of the previous reviews and can not believe it is the same place. There was a mixture of nationalities us Brits , Canadians plus Scandinavian and SouthAfrican diners. I ordered the tuna steak which was huge it came with peppers and onions and lovely new potatoes. My husband had the steak and chips which at â¬12 was a bargain. Wine was less than â¬3 and very pleasant. I wonder if the owner is new as he was very friendly unlike the guy mentioned in previous reviews. The kitchen was open and I was pleased to see that the chef had her hair covered plus gloves when handling the food. The chairs and tables were all mis matched which added to the charm. I would certainly return . I have previously had two very disappointing lunches and this little place has restored my faith in Portuguese cooking.

We arrived Sunday, 15:00 and they are still serving. We started with fresh mussels that we asked at Bulhão Pato style. We chose a sea bream of over 1 kilo, full of flavor and grilled to perfection, accompanied with tasty vegetables and a cold white wine. The service was fast, efficient and very friendly. In the end a delicious carob, fig and almond tart with an excellent espresso. Could be better? maybe if we had the sea in front, or the beach, but you can not have it all. In summer it must be impossible and we realize that Sunday at lunch should be also very stressful. So please arrive after 14:00 / 14:30.

If you are in a large party go elsewhere! They clearly prioritise smaller groups, took 15 minutes to get drinks, and it was 30 minutes before they took our food order, despite prompting which they ignored!! Others who had arrived after us had eaten and left before our food arrived???

Cherry Wonderdog expected more out of Sitio du Forno. The location was magnificent -- no doubt about that. Itâs hard to imagine a more perfect setting up in the cliffs overlooking the ocean. However, our guesthouse owner recommended it for the food and value as well, and here the restaurant came up short.I ordered the sardines which came as a half dozen, grilled, and they were pretty good. But the only accompaniment was two small boiled potatoes. Why skimp on potatoes? On the plate, it looked ridiculous. This was the third or fourth time that I had ordered sardines in Portugal, and every other time, I had received a huge portion of potatoes AND salad. Salad was served but in a quantity barely larger than the miniature plate served on the return flight by TAP. And it was supposed to be shared with my wife who ordered the Golden Bream. Speaking of which, the bream was a huge failure, especially since I had ordered a masterpiece version the night before in Lagos at Reis restaurante. In contrast, Sitio du Forno charged nearly twice as much and delivered a drier version without sauce. The waiter did a good job deboning the fish at the table, but that couldnât salvage how the fish was prepared. Worse, the restaurant charged quite a premium -- 50 Euro per Kilo (compared to 9.99 at the market we noticed later in the day), resulting in a price of 22 Euros for a fish no larger than the superior golden bream I had had the night before for 10 euros less. The piece de resistance came at the end when we used the restrooms and realized that both the ladies and menâs rooms were filthy and atrociously maintained, with conditions certainly not commensurate with a quality restaurant. Cherry Wonderdog learns a lot from restrooms, and when they are not up to par, it worries him to no end how such apathy and neglect could be extended to the food preparation as well.
