We stayed on Friday night for one night at The Kildrummy Inn. On arrival we were welcomed by the very friendly owner Nigel and shown to our room. When you walk into Kildrummy the warmth of the place is really apparent. Cozy welcoming sofas around a wood burning fire in a room filled with knick knacks and antiques - its so quaint and pretty. Our room was perfectly appointed - comfy bed, a tray of tea, coffee and water with some caramel wafers! Yum. Bathroom was modern and big fluffy bath sheets were supplied - much appreciated! Our room was situated to the front of the inn overlooking the pretty surrounding countryside. Once we had settled in we headed down for a prosecco and a sit in the lounge. We opted to dine in and were given menus to peruse when enjoying our drinks. The food was absolutely out of this world - outstanding. We had a very comfortable night sleep - being an old building its inevitable that you will hear creeks and other guests moving about but this just added to the ambience of the place and was not an issue in the slightest. Breakfast was an absolutely treat - welcomed with toast, pastries and tea, followed by porridge oats with cream (a must try if you've not) then followed by a delicious full cooked breakfast which included some Stornoway black pudding! It was the breakfast of kings! Thank you so much to the owners and staff at Kildrummy inn, you made our stay truly memorable and wonderful. We will definitely be back in the new year!

Stopped for lunch while on holiday and were very happy. Good traditional Scots food plus selection of burgers etc. Homely rather than fancy, with a cheery bustle and clearly popular with the locals. Very elderly relative enjoyed some nice lentil soup while others had chilli cheese burger and pulled pork burger, finished with good coffee and tasty chocolate piece. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be back when in the vicinity.

Pub/Restaurant.
i was looking for somewhere to take my family for lunch so i consulted trip advisor and chose the muggarthaugh hotel based on the great reviews.
i hate to therefore write this review but i was really unimpressed. we had read about the large portion sizes and quality of food and we were not disapointed . the food was lovely and portion size amazing.. so why the low rating ?
we (me , my wife, 16yr old, 4 yr old and 9 week old baby) arrived at 1.30 and checked to see if still serving . the response was pretty blunt "yes" and we walked in and were seated in very first table next to the door. we were asked what we liked to drink and when i asked if i could go see the beers on offer in the bar. the look i received and body shrug made me feel like id asked for her daughters hand in marriage rather than what beers they had.
anyway drinks having been ordered and food orders placed it was not long before the starter came out.... wow!!@@@ the fish platter was enormous and really good fresh salmon praw. crayfish and fresh salad. then the main course arrived again a massive plate full and also 2 massive plates of chips/ potatoes / carrots / brocolli were placed on the table. we were asked if we wanted any sauces and we replied with mayo please. whilst she was away getting the mayo my son decided he wanted ketchup for his burger . on her arrival with the sauce my son asked if he could have some ketchup too.. again the look of utter discust was obvious and the atmosphere just fell through the floor.
when i visited the toilets i looked around the other rooms in the pub there was a nicer dining room in the room next to where we was sitting whereas the room we were eating was very run down and dated the same can be said for the toilets.
its a real shame to say this but the food was great but to have a good meal you need to feel comfortable and from the moment we were seated outside the real dining room in the area between the resteraunt and the bar. we were never made to feel comfortable. we were made to feel like a burden . so much so my wife could not wait to leave.

This is possibly the worst Chinese I've ever eaten from - which is a shame as it's such a nice wee interior and the staff are pleasant. Husbands sweet and sour chicken was like jelly in texture and positively gross. My noodles were fishy tasting and swimming in grease. Inedible.

This has become a popular haunt for us, not to far away from Aberdeen and worth the drive. To be fair the menu is pretty much the pub menu you would expect with all the traditional favourites listed. However, the food is excellent, served piping hot and of sufficient quality. Staff seemed happy to engage and the atmosphere although quiet was pleasant. Good for a lunch out, reasonably priced and worth a return visit.

As I am a curry lover I was pleased with the food. Myself and my son have our curry Friday and were really pleased with what we got and the customer service was great. I highly recommend you check this place out. As I am not local to Alford I have been to many Indian restaurants and I have to say this is my favourite.

On a horrible we and cold morning we found this place just opening up. We were welcomed and seated. Tea coffee toast and breakfast ordered. Fresh cooked served quickly. Not pricey what more do you want??? Cakes are not my thing but my partner was in raptures over the selection and while we were having breakfast a steady stream of regular customers came in for their orders, so they must be good??
Frankly ignore the poor comments. Yes it's small and cosy you can't make it any bigger. Yes two buggies would fill the place and block the door. It is what it is stop moaning and find somewhere else!!!

Went for lunch with big expectations - had duck with mash and the battered cod ( fish and chips ). 1 beer and one small bottle of coke Big shock at the bill - beer was £5.50 and coke £2.75 - ok it is a large hotel etc, but 2 small size battered cod fillets and 4 ( yes 4) chips with peas and supposed to be salad, but was only a little rocket. Duck came with mash and carrots. Quality was good, but felt price way too high - £12.95 for fish and £13.95 for duck. Real shame because would have definitely gone again.
Sorry - don't normally write negative reviews, but feel a little let down. would have said something to staff, but didn't get the chance.
