Very surprised this restaurant has not been reviewed before. On the N5 about 20 minutes from Vasco de Gama bridge,it was always busy each time we passed ,so gave it a try.Had to wait 5minutes to get a table as full .we were shown in to the newer dining room at the back and our order arrived in 20 minutes.Tasty pork iberico. With wine olives, one dessert 2main courses and2 cafe .......16euro! We will stop again for sure.Going toward Lisbon after roundabout entering Poceirao village take 1st. Right then 2nd Left which leads down to Praca at restaurant, safer to park here as main N5 is busy .Closed Sunday

Restaurant where you have a pleasant meal, traditional local food without forgetting the excellent "Choco frito" (fried cuttlefish), at a good price. Personalized service by the owners in a family atmosphere. Near the beautiful "Bonfim" city garden.

The Retiro Azul Restaurant is one of the oldest and most emblematic restaurants of Vila de Palmela. Quiet and family atmosphere, it has a Regional and Traditional Portuguese Cuisine. At lunch we have the buffet service and "a la carte", at the dinners we
We had planned to have dinner at the Pousada but wanted an authentic Portuguese meal, so Tiago suggested Retiro Azul in Palmela. He drove us, and introduced us to the owners, and we had an incredible meal. We had the Queijinho de Azeitao & Estaladico de alheira come maca to start (divine), the Lascas de bacalhau com broa (codfish) & Bife da vazia (veal steak) for mains (sublime) and finished with chocolate mouse and an apple pie crepe. Add in countless litres of local wine and it made for one unforgettable night. The food was beyond expectation, and Ana provided a wonderful welcome.

Very authentic experience. Never seen anything like this. Very bussy place however service very quick and nice. Waiters cannot speak English because the restaurant is full of locals - it is the best sign that it will be great food. Fresh fish and delicious original dessert. Everything for very reasonable prices and big portions. Free drink, olives and bread.

Cod roe, totally, mouth watering and the famous local fried cuttlefish. Very attentive waiter, and very knowledgeable. Beautiful sea views. We went back again the next day. Hope to visit Setubal again, this town is full of chill and friendly locals, this restaurant is located on the seafront. There's bar not far with an amazing balcony where you can spend the rest of the evening, shame the trip was short.
